  1. Hi there Jason, there are three things that you need to update in order to make the most of your new console. 1.Freestyle dash, which is currently in its 3rd release meaning you are way behind! 2. Dashlaunch, the newest version of dashlaunch contains many fixes that allow your system to work correctly with the latest and greatest games. Dashlaunch works behind the scenes doing many things but one of its functions is to redirect your console from booting microsoft dash to the Freestyle dash. If it is doing this (even intermitently) then yes, you have dashlaunch although it is probably extremely out of date. and 3. your microsoft kernel, this can't be updated through microsoft, you have to use a specialized program to update update the microsoft kernel or it will break your jtag. Their are many great tutorials on this site that will help you to do all 3 of these things. So to answer all of your questions:1. No, you don't automatically have it but yes, you do have it but need to update it.2. No, to play the latest and greatest games you need the latest dahlaunch, freestyle dash and Microsoft kernel (modified through Xebuild)3. Here is a tutorial by Wabashman for getting your console up to date through Xebuild, since you don't have the latest version of Xell (push eject to boot to find out what Xell is) you won't be able to use the tutorial in your link to update. It has a lot of pictures and is very easy to follow, I would recommend it. http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?/topic/413-quick-and-easy-way-to-update-your-jtagrgh/4. I would update your microsoft kernel first through Wabashmans tutorial. After that, find the freestyle dash update program found here http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?/topic/24-fsd-22-installer/ it will install the latest version of freestyle dash and dashlaunch for you if you have your console connected to the internet (do NOT accept any updates or try to connect to Xbox live, this will brick your box!).For more understanding on HOW updating works and why you should, check out this tutorial, the tutorial is a little outdated, but the info is good to know. http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?/topic/349-update-your-rghjtag-with-xebuild-gui-and-nand-flasher-for-xbox-360/
  2. i think irish dave is right, it doesn't sound to me like you have the knowledge or tools to fix this on your own. If FSD was corrupt, your Xbox would still boot to the microsoft kernel. The FSD kernel isn't actually a replacement dash that runs your xbox 360, its a game that operates as though it were a dashboard. This game must have the microsoft kernel files in order to run properly. The primary function of autogg isn't updating FSD, if you wanted to do that you should have just used the freestyle dash installer located on this site. The freestyle dash installer can be burned to a disc or run from a usb and will update your freestyle dash and dashlaunch if your xbox is connected to the internet. If you enable beta updates in FSD it will even update itself when connected to the internet.Going on, when you updated through autogg, you were not updating just FSD (even though that is one of the things that autogg CAN do) you apparently rewrote your Nand. The Nand of the Xbox can be thought of somewhat like a bios for a PC; without the Bios, or without the right bios your computer wouldn't be able to boot up. Similarly, if you updated your Nand through autogg with the wrong type of bios it will cause your Xbox 360 to stop functioning correctly. What you've described about the way your Xbox is booting, one green light, nothing else, is indicative of an incorrect bios. If you can't boot to Xell by pushing the eject button, I'm afraid your screwed. You will need to take it to the person who RGH'd or Jtagged your system in the first place and hope that they had the decency to save your CPU key and Nand. They will have the equipment needed to reflash (flashing meaning to rewrite) your Nand with the correct image. Then your console should work just fine again. In the future, it would behoove you to thoroughly research the process before updating your kernel. You'll want to know what type of motherboard your console has, what dashboard it needs, what your cpu key it needs and above all, never ever turn your console off in the middle of a Nand flash until the program your using says it is done.
  3. Welcome to RMS Rorschach!
  4. Here's an idea, once you have your games off of the internal, use the microsoft dash to format your hard drive. That will get rid of everything that you don't need and restore your drive as though it were brand new.
  5. Then it has to be the overscan settings, hard to tell however, since this picture was taken in the dark and you can't see the edge of the television. It could also be your miscrosoft dash settings as well. Make sure that the settings in the stock microsoft dash are optimized for your television first and THEN start fiddling around with your FSD video settings.
  6. If it's not overscan then it must be the widescreen setting on your tv.
  7. If what I'm thinking your saying is correct, you want to wipe out all of the files for the microsoft dashboard on your Xbox. To do this you'd have to delete them out of your flash memory. Please do not do this. You need to understand that Freestyle dash isn't actually a replacement for microsoft's dashboard. It is a game that acts like a dashboard that uses the microsoft dashboard resources to run itself. If you want to install FSD to your usb just use the installer available to you on this site. Then you can delete your old FSD from off of your internal drive.
  8. That looks excellent! I'm going to try this out, thank you for your hard work!
  9. This is fantastic news, some guys just never seem to slow down. I wish I had some coding skills so that I could donate some effort to this project. Oh well, I guess I'll just show some support with my monies!
  10. Pardon the stupid question, but has your Xbox 360 been modded to allow homebrew applications to run on it?
  11. That sounds awesome! I can't wait to try it!
  12. you could always try xm360, it has always worked well for me!
  13. Sad to hear that team fsd will be disbanding. It seems like the scene is starting to get quieter all of the time. I guess you can only code for free for so long before you have to move on to other things. I've been using fsd since 1.2 when you had to download all of your artwork onto a flash drive and then transfer it over. It sure has come a long way since then. I personally owe a big thanks to team fsd for the amazing features included in each release of the dashboard. I have modded many Xboxes over the years and the main thing that convinces customers to decide to mod their rig is Freestyle dash. One look at what it is capable of and they are hooked. Nothing else comes close. You guys do fantastic work, may you find success in all of your future endeavors.
  14. I think E3 made a little dongle that could downgrade from a limited set of dashboards. I was researching it a while back but now I forget the particulars.
  15. It could just be the widescreen setting on your tv
  16. If you're looking to create more room for a hard drive or whatnot, you could always strip the drive and just leave the drives logic board in place. However, don't they have a no DVD drive option when you build your Nand image with freeboot?
  17. If the folder on the usb drive is named $system update, try renaming it to $$ystem update and give that a go. Alternatively, you could temporarily disable the plugin in the dashlaunch program that prevents the Xbox from finding system updates and then just plug in your kinect and except the update.
  18. I would suggest you reinstall fsd3

    updates

if you installed dashlaunch via the install disk I believe the app is found inside the freestyle folder. You should be able to launch it from there

    updates

You can block xbox live membership creation and connection from the parental settings on the retail dash, for an extra layer of security, just block system updates in dashlaunch.
