yah do like talby said and use Dashlaunch to put fsd as default! why would it be mentions on those tuto when its not even the subject of the tuto !? can you imagine how more confusing it would be if in every tuto, we would have to mention everything about fsd jtag etc??? would be weird to specifie how to use fsd as dash, in a ''update tuto'' ... you have to search a little bit dude! and if you dont want to search or read, you should just use your consol to play games! you have to take time of learning if you want to do some jtag stuff yourself!.. anyway, to put it as default dash you can also edit the .ini file at your HDD root, you can also make a copy of the default.xex of the fsd to the root. And for the avatar editor if you read what i wrote before: you can edit them on the pc!! computer only! but thats if you know and want to use photoshop...but it might be a bit complicated for you (its really simple, but you seem like you want everything done for you so.. ) if you want to change your background, go into the avatareditor4 and edit the background pic! its that simple! so good luck and again: take time to learn! anyway, happy to see you've updated your stuff and that it works now ! (you dont really need to use dashlaunch frequently so you should access it from file manager if you need to do something with it..or else i dont know why its not working..i never use it as homebrew ) come back if you have more problems! -peace.

so what you say: its more important not to hear the xbox then to make it heat ?.. the setting you put your fans should always depend on your xbox's need! a lot of different factor makes it different for lot of people: -old or slim console -the place you put your console -the temperature of that room -if the xbox is on a close shelter or open shelter etc.. so if you feels like your console have a hard time cooling down ( for whatever reason) well then you should put your fan settings higher, until you find the right temperature.. you better prevent heat then to care about the sound it makes! and also your xbox will last really longer by saving it from months of heat! but anyway, yes every cpu gpu are meant to take lot of heat, the real problem that heat gives to the motherboard, is the stress of bending under heat..but it's true that microsoft solved this problem (for most) with they're Slim xbox so they have really less chance of RROD..... but usually the slims xbox dosent need high fan settings, but like every xbox, some people turn they're consol into oven by not taking care of the heat, thats why i wanted to confirm him that its not dangerous to keep is fan to 95%..not that he have to, but that he CAN if he want.. When i watch movies or play XBLA games, i can put my fan settings to default, i wont hear my fan at all, and it wont get passed 70c for cpu and 59c gpu, and for sure it wont rrod just because it gets to 70c, but yah it will rrod if i leave this setting, because the stress to the motherboard is big when you shutdown your console at 70c, since the fans stop working, so the heat stay inside. But for someone who takes care of is Slim console, 40% of fan should even be okay, but you check with your temp bar if its not to low as a setting...but for sure 78c is really to hot, and 75c is to hot on the long-terme time.. (not sure if we can say this like this in english..) so briefly: the lower the heat your xbox will have, the longer it will live!

use the latest FSD3 its better! but anyway, yah you can keep your fan the higher you want without damaging the console! some people modify they're fan to run double the power voltage so it runs alway fast, since xbox are like oven...that said: my old Zephyr never had a rrod and reach 60c when fan is set to about 70%. but i usually keep it at 80% and it dont get pass 50c. oh and another great reason to download the latest fsd, is because with it, you can see all the temperature in your start-button-menu ! so, you play a game and while in-game, you press start and you see the temperature..its a pretty good feature of the latest fsd3 ! But dont let your xbox runs at 78c...its not good at all for your motherboard to give that much heat-pressure on the CPU-GPU ! if your console needs 95% fan..well 95% it should have!..that way your console will stay alive as long as you take care of never let it heat!

yah well jtag stuff aint always easy and simple the first time so its normal that tutorials sometime seem more complicated then they actually are lol (..and sometime tutorial are not really clear and well-made!..but some are really good!..anyway..) So after that did you install the avatar update? did you try the homebrew avatar editor?

yup only for avatar and kinect update. not for the dash. (but of course he should also make the dash update while he is in the Update mood! lol)

yup, you first take care of the latest dash update following a good tuto, and THEN when its all done, you can make the Avatar+kinect update. but be sure that if you have a kinect, you have to let it plug in while you do the avatar update or else when later you will plug your kinect, it will ask for update again! good luck! (personnally i dont like the link of the small tuto that the guy gave because noob sometime can easyly get lost with all the step to do.. but it works so if you dont feel like searching other tuto, fallow this one without being afraid! ....the one from Blacky is great by the way!..)

happy to see it worked! i had this problem frequently with my Zephyr. long time ago, when would try transfering stuff like games by usb on my hard drive, it works for 1 game, and then the others gave me ''operation failed''.. so then, i shutdown my console, unplug it (just to be sure the hard drive is 100% unpowered, and when i plug it back BAM! i can transfer all the files even if its 20 games in a row!... so what i'm saying, is that usually when it happens, there's a huge chance its not the console or jtag itself..its more likely to be usb or hard drive error, so easy to fix. top solution fast and easy is to either pull your usb stick out then back in, if its thru FTP, power off the xbox and unplug it for a couple of second, plug it back, power it and connect thru FTP, and then should work..usually! .. i suggest you test your hard drive the way i will tell you to, so that way you will see if the problem will occur again, and you will also maybe save you the trouble of seeing your hard drive dying soon, and loosing everything on it!.. so here we go: i suggest you test the hard drive by putting a couple of games in your usb, then transfer 2 games, one by one, into the folder you keep your games in your hard drive, then shutdown the xbox. ..(.wait like 3 seconde..) then power it again, go delete the games you just transfered (or keep them on your hard drive if you didnt have them already in it lol) then transfer another 2 games, one by one,...do this process about 4 times and see if the problem you had occurs again! if not, well it was maybe just the usb dongle, or just a little phase of your hard drive... but if after doing this 4 times, if it happened again atleast once, theres a good chance your hard drive will be dying in a couple of month. but dosent mean it will at 100% ! But your not obligate to do it! its just if you want to be sure tour hard drives dosent have big problems.. but maybe someone else will have another explanation since theres planty of different problems that occurs in different situation for different reasons etc so its good to take all the help you find to be sure it dont happend to much!

hi! ..yah i tought about it at first, but i dont think i will be heading toward this direction.. because i dont want it to be to much interactive, i dont want animation or anithing.. i'm looking more to the channel/tab being the actual photo viewer.. a bit like the way the menu appears when you choose the channel ''setting'', or file manager.. For now i'm making some test with some old homebrews for the old xbox and i am proudly surprise!..i mean..yah with modded files we can launch old stuff but can barely use them..but for only photo they run more easely...but i cant really stay wuth this idea since it will take to much rescources just to emulate something just to view pictures..i mean, it wont slow anything down..but i feel its stupid if i take lots of rescource only to watch photos... anyway i continue my stuff and keep in touch! i hope other people will come and give me ideas to! the more idea i will have, the faster i will be able to make this work!..or help someone else to make it work!lol thanks!

hi, i will tell you what i did when i had this same problem: deleted freestyle completely (from FTP using flashFXP), or you can use xexmenu to deleted it from hard drive,, then create your Freestyle folder (or use your old folder if you are sure you empty-it completely!) , and put all the content from the new freestyle folder, in your hard drive's freestyle folder. Then, to verifie it works, restart your xbox, go back in xexmenu or any xex launcher, navigate thru the freestyle folder (not the FSD folder..its a backup fsd!..usually an old version!) then choose the default.xex in the freestyle folder, and it should launch. Sometime it gets hard to make it work if you dont remove it completely first.. if it still dont work, come back here, and tell us exactly what you did and what it did when trying to launch..and where you able to transfer it without any error, etc..

oh ok. i think i love this more then the original-dash avatar editor, cause you can edit the background music and the background image (..on the pc with photoshop etc..) so if your avatar is a bad-ass rocker, you can put some hardrock muzzz in the background lol Anyway, Cannelizer: i hope you finnally got it running because its such a good homebrew! if you've try updating the avatar+kinect update and didnt work, tell us! we'il try something else to make it work!..but after the update (NOT THE ENTIRE UPDATE!...FALLOW A TUTO FOR ''avatar update jtag'' ) it should work. (more info: did you already have other problems launching homebrews, using FSD, navigating your hard drive from fsd's file manager, updating your console (never update the normal way when you have a jtag/RGH..there are special ways to fallow when you update your jtag..) or any other problem? )

the current 64 emulator unfortunatly only run throu xell (put emu on usb stick then power console by pressing eject..) but as the post above says, xelllaunch!... ..Xelllaunch will launch xell from the fsd, so you can then launch the 64 emulator..but to be honest it sucks to go thru all this to play..i hope someone will soon port a nintendo64 emulator, for fsd! (or whatever you use to launch xex)

yah weird..hopefully someone else will be able to bring more help!..but try doing the update (just the avatar+kinect update) by searching this on google should be really fast to find a good ans easy tuto..and let me know if it solve your problem. i think there might be about 97% chance it will solve it!...because maybe the avatareditor4 was coded from a recent dash update..anyway.. let us know!

not sure..but i think you have the update because you are able to costumize your avatar so... and to see your dash version you go to your settings, then ''info'', and you will see the version..it most likely will be something around 16 197, or 14 699 ...or something around those.. i'm not sure why it dosent work for you...can you see your avatar also on the FSD dash?..me, the first thing i would do in your situation would be to do the avatar+kinect update, to be sure everything is allright (in case some stuff got messed up or i dont know..) . have you tryed running it from the file manager by choosing the default.xex in the avatareditor4 folder ?

Hiya! i want to know: would it be possible to make a photo album for FSD ? ...obviously it it possible, but does anyone have the knowledge to making a photo album channel? making the channel wont be complicated with the xuitool but i think first we should make a photo viewer homebrew..but the thing is, i want the homebrew to be, kinda fusioned to the channel so that when you open the tab, you see the picture wall... So to resume: i'm looking to find or make a photoviewer/photoalbum channel for FSD3 ! (..or ATLEAST a homebrew that is used to navigate photos..) Thanks!

it works fine for me, what FSD version do you use? and wich dash version your xbox currently have? did you install the avatar and kinect update on your xbox? if not, theres a huge chance its caused by that..so if you havent install the kinect+avatar update, i suggest you do it and then you will be able to use the avatars perfectly! (and the homebrew..offcourse) and if you want to know if you have the update, go to you original dash and try editing the avatar, if it gives same error..you need to do the update, wich is easy as pie to do! (are we allowed to post links for other sites, here?)

hi ! ..hey i was woundering, did someone found a way to change the words that the kinect recognise after saying XBOX ? and to edit the movement or include a cursour? like, maybe by finding the exact path and mesh some game uses to show a cursor? ..would be nice to be able to choose icons with a cursor (depending of the skin..) thanks!

alll right nice !!! thanks and for sure, i will be posting because like i said i'm new to skinning the FSD, but i'm used to skin/theme anything i have so i should learn fast. ..should!...XD Since i installed fsd 2 (now 3..) the only thing i was able to do as skinning, is editing with xzp some skins i love (..for my own! not to upload!..) (spinx, AYR, illume, vorpal, hexaflow...well hexaflow is really in fact blackEX if i remember, a guy post a skin claiming he's the creator, all he did was mod a bit some wallpapers of the blackEX skin..if my memory is exact, but it was funny to see him getting knock down after a while, when the real creator arrives, with lots of post and rep to is stat, telling everyone etc....anyway..) but now, i am able to build a totally new skin! its great!! after a couple of hours testing the xuitool, i can see i will defenitly need some help on some details, but then again i didnt really have time to actually ''do'' something..so i will try stuff and research etc.. and come back for help or to keep in touch of how my skin is going.. oh ok cool thanks! i found the xuitool, but not in the xdk (since i dont have it..) do i need the xdk? ...sdk isnt okay? i am french so sorry in advance if sometime i dont comunicate perfectly.. and i'm not used to skinning so i'm still learning. as for the xdk, i'm not sure exactly what its for..i know its XboxDevKit..but i dont have it..i have my jtag consol, and i use the sdk...but i'm not even sure i need it yet.... anyway,.. i tryed the xui tool but i cant find exactly what to open.. all the stuff i try to open in my skins are in xur (inside xzp files..) but for what i think i understand, i think its not the skin (.xzp) that i need to open,right? if so, what exactly? (ps: i recently found: xuitool, the SDK, and access runtime 2010 (but cant install..) , saying just in case..) thanks for your patience and dont worry i learn fast XD
