  1. While I do acknowledge that this might not be the most common use case, some users (including myself) have a large library of over 350 titles on a NAS device. I'd rather be able to stream games directly from the NAS, rather than constantly freeing up space and transferring files over via FTP. I know it's not a priority, but if and when the developers decide to bother with rewriting the plugin; my only request is make it so you can specify an IP address instead of the NETBIOS name (and possibly make credentials not a mandatory parameter). If we're that concerned about overhead and performance, then I would suggest making an NFS plugin to go alongside the SMB one. All the NAS devices support NFS, and there's even freeware available to set up NFS shares from Windows. Just thought I'd give my 2 cenz again, since the ConnectX subject was brought up again (and I'm one of those who eagerly await for an optimized version). PS: Maybe this is a stupid conjecture, but can't we use LUA to have ConnectX only scan for the available content, and then have the selected game (upon launch) get preloaded to a temporary storage via the ftp protocol? (Then erased once we close it) ..I mean, we gotta have something (even if it's hacky) until and if we ever get a proper SMB/NFS implementation. PS2: Yes I know about netISO, it just doesn't fit my use case, sorry. I want to be able to browse and select directly from the console.
  2. Sorry for the wait..... The testers havnt gotten a new build to test in over a month. Most of the bugs have been worked out, since we patched out NetISO, in this build. The major holdup is the WebUI for Nova. There was a lot of updates to the FSPlugin, and it was rebranded as Nova. The since Aurora supports LUA, I think one of the new features they are working on for the WebUI, is a LUA editor, and a bunch of other stuff. As of this point, I am fairly sure that is what is holding up the release. Then again, the dev scene has been fairly quiet, so I dont know what has been going on in the last month or so, as I havnt been around much...... Been working on other projects, and life...... lol.
  3. We have enough testers for now. People who ask dont get picked. We pick people we think will be benificial to the team in one way or another, and people we trust from their contributions on this forum, who have lots of experience with troubleshooting problems both on the xbox and different software. We also dont generally ask people who want to be testers. As for Nova, yes it will be included, but it is basically the same as what you have had. The major new feature was NetISO, and that is being pushed back. So, other than some modified text, and backend bug fixes, it will be the same experience for the end user.
  4. From what I can surmise, we will get to see NOVA though.. If it's stable, it's good enough, even if NetISO doesn't make it into this release. Should you require additional beta testers, I can help you out as well.

At this rate sooner rather than later, the devs had to roll back the changes for netISO, which took a bit of time, and due to the nova release, there was some stuff with the FTP server that needed modified, and while the devs were there figured they would fix a bug or 2 that had been around for a couple of years, but was minor. Then there are some fixes for the stuff for the WebUI in the new plugin. It should be soon, but being one of only testers, outside of the devs, that currently has an xbox, and being in the middle of packing my house, mine is in a box, so it might be a couple of weeks. I think there is still some work that needs to be done on the WebUI end, so that might work out well, since I dont know when the final test build will be passed on. Other than that from what I can tell, there are some new graphical elements that are being worked on for XUI stuff..... So, it is getting more attention then it has in about 2 months. We have lives outside of this, and work on it when we can.
  7. Great news team. Would be nice to run from netiso and free up another hdd. Already saving a ton of space on my blueray games from PS3netsrv on NAS. If not, no worries, Aurora already made my xbox great.
  8. The nas is a dual xeon running one of the Linux based nas OS's. It has docker support so I can run pretty much anything I want on it quite easily, and I do. Would love it if someone could test netiso with multiple consoles. Even if it can only support one console could run multiple instances via docker (provided someone ports to *nix) and just point to the same iso.
  9. As of this moment, I dont know if anyone has tested more than one console from netIso, I know I havnt, as I only have one modded console at the moment. There is hope for a linux version of the server, but it wont be until after it is released, as the server should be released with the code, so it can be ported to other OS's. As far as your nas system goes, that depends on your nas system. If you can create and install packages for/on your nas it shouldnt be much of a problem. You could probably even use a raspberrypi for this as well, if your nas doesnt allow custom package installs. You still have to wait until it is ported though.
  10. How many Xboxes can stream from netiso at once? I hope it her there is a Linux version of the server or it is opensource. Would love to get it sorted so I can run it on my nas system.
  11. because netiso mounts god files as well, so you dont have to convert it to extract it, you can mount it, then see all of the files like you inserted the disc.
  12. There are things i understand and some don't... NetIso would be a great stuff for sure but an Internal HDD must be still needed for at least TU and DLC although. Assuming the fact you own a Xbox 360 Jtag\Rgh large capacity HDD's recommended. I don't see the benefit of it, sorry.
  13. Having netiso would be fantastic here because then when I have a party I do not have to find a way to distribute a game across all of my consoles. Most just sit idly waiting for parties.
  14. good things comes to those who wait would choose to wait for new features to be implemented first version 0.6 is working just fine and without new features we would end up with same release not worth the wait in my opinion netiso is really cool one keep up the good work guys peace
  15. My personal goal is to get out at least one more release, we have a lot of awesome features that are just waiting to get into public hands. If it includes NetISO and WebUI- awesome, but if not, awesome as well. After 0.7, i dont know what's going to happen or what a potential release schedule could look like.
  16. We sincerely prefer to have a release like this, webui and NETiso could see in 0.8, we already wait too long and we are looking forward to what has already been done, so if you are thinking about postponing I say no! hahaha, we expect these new features at 0.8

Are you voting to put off aurora 0.7b until netiso and webui are finished and tested, or are you voting to put that off until 0.8b, and get the initial update for nova, and what is completed in aurora 0.7b? The webUI hasnt even made it to the testers yet, so who knows when that will be finished up, and waiting for it could put off the release of aurora 0.7b for quite a while. It really doesnt matter to me, as I already have what they are going to release, if the community decides it wants to put off some of the bigger features for a christmas time release.
  18. The bugs in aurora 0.7b outside of nova have been fixed for close to 5-6 months, and I will say we came across some interesting bugs. lol. We were trying to get the webUI fixed and themed for aurora, and bring a better option then connectX for games, that could be updated, and ran faster. Are those things needed no, but personally, I like the idea of netISO, even if it is for ripping iso images to the hdd, since you can mount it, and then run the game installer script. It would make life so much easier for me, in the sense that I wouldnt have to say go get this app to convert that from god to iso, then get this app to extract the iso, then ftp that to the console. It is put the image in a folder, scan the paths on the server, go to the xbox and mount it, then do it how you would with any disc game, or just play it as is. That is from a help desk capacity though, which is kind of what I do on this site. Dont get me wrong, it is great for playing games as well, but due to what it is, it doesnt add games to coverflow, or any of that, like connectX does, it sees it as if you put a disc in the console. I didnt test it with music isos, or dvd iso's, but the ISO loader on the server could probably do that easily with minimal code changes as well, if any at all. Should totally bring that up to Ro, cant believe that I just thought of that. lol.
  19. That is all part of LinkV2, which is still in early development, so it hasnt even been added. What was seen in that teaser thread is some stuff that was being tested privately, The trainer stuff is not in the plugin yet either. So, while the test code exists, it is in a seperate project currently, that will later be merged into this version of Nova. The plugin is one of the most tricky things in Aurora, as it runs in a seperate memory space, and while those things may make it in, it is tricky because you can only access like 8MB of memory that is put aside by the kernel for the hud. The plugin then overwrites the memory space. This means that while we will try to add all of those features, and keep what is already there, it will take some very lean code, and even then, might not be possible to include everything, and keep it stable, and/or fast. we dont know until we write it, and test it, and optimize the shit out of it. And even after all of that, it might still not be enough to get everything that was teased in the plugin. This is a bit more complicated then writing Aurora, in the sense that we can take advantage of the game space memory with Aurora, as it is essentially a game as far as the xbox is concerned. The HUD on the other hand is a very clever hack, as microsoft never intended any application to be able to take advantage of the hud memory space. The only time that memory space is taken advantage of on a retail console is when playing original xbox games, as they needed every bit of memory they could get to pull that off due to achetecture changes, and even then, some original xbox games/homebrew dont really play all that well, or at all. So, my guess is, that in order to take advantage of the hud space there is some tricky assembly code that goes into it, as microsoft didnt write functions in the XDK to do that, which makes it way more complicated to write than any other type of app for the xbox. Dont get me wrong, a lot of games and apps take advantage of ASM, just because you can further optimize some things, if you know what you are doing, than the compiler can. Long story short expect an aurora themed version of the freestyle plugin we have been using for 5 years now, rebranded as nova, or you are going to be severely disappointed. If a greyed out netIso makes it in, then it will be maybe 1% better as far as end user features go, as that will be disabled, and useless, even if you were to enable it, by modifying the theme, it wouldnt be useful without the server for the PC, unless you want to do some network protocol analasys, and try to reverse engineer the server with only the client half of the communication. That would be one hell of a challenge at that, not impossible, but not a beginner project at all either. As I have said already, most of the changes are back end bug fixes, and changes to make it more compatible with the code base of aurora, and to get it ready to add some of these new features you want so much.
  20. ConnectX is similar in a way, but NetISO kicks the shit out of ConnectX as far as loading times go. If using a wired network connection, it is as fast as loading off the hard drive. The main issues I found with it were things like the server "soft crashing" if the network connection dropped, and if you "eject" the iso, and there is a game in the drive it would launch the game in the drive, but if you are using an svod, it would dump you back at NXE. The server crash issue isnt actually a crash, you just cant connect to it again until you restart it, but the program is still running. Also, I only had one Jtag to test with, so it might not handle multiple sockets from different xboxes very well. In that sense alone, I think it would be good to get an initial release out to the community to help track some of these bugs down. As for the new WebUI, even the testers havnt gotten that yet to test, but even when I was running FSD, it was a feature I didnt really use, outside of the smart glass like app that was created for phones that worked with it, and even that I only played with because it was a cool concept, but didnt really do much for me. Then again, this is coming from the guy who wrote the cheat manager for the emulators just to see if I could get game genie codes to work with the retro arch cores for aurora, then never actually used the codes while playing any of the games outside testing the app that generates the files. It was more of an interesting project, then an I want to cheat thing. My niece and nephew like the codes though, so that is good I guess. lol. That being said, that app has gotten alot of downloads since I released it, even though I never actually finished adding support for the rest of the emulators out there, so I am happy it was useful for someone. I kind of figured someone else would have picked up the project, and continued it. There was a lot of interest in the code, which I released, then nothing ever came of it, at least that I know of. lol. Wow.... That last part was way off topic.

OTHEROS++ SUPPORT OtherOS++ is supported by all REBUG REX EDITIONS and will detect your existing OtherOS HDD partition. However none of the REBUG REX EDITIONS have emer_init.self patched (create smaller GameOS partition). We are working on a solution to this from GameOS. In the meantime if you do want to create an OtherOS partition you have two options: 1: Use a 3.55 firmware that already has emer_init.self patched to the size you want. 2: Patch REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION in PS3MFW Builder If you choose option 2 we highly recommend that you ONLY patch emer_init.self. Also the resulting PUP will only be able to be installed on 3.55 firmware as the spkg_hdr will be mismatched. REBUG 4.21.x AND HIGHER INSTALL: From XMB install REBUG 4.21.x AND HIGHER over any 3.55 OFW/CFW/MFW or the same or lower firmware version CFW with spkg sig check patched or any firmware version CFW with spkg sig check patched and QA enabled. UNINSTALL: From XMB REBUG 4.21.x AND HIGHER can be uninstalled with the same or higher firmware version OFW/CFW/MFW or with REBUG 3.55.x REX EDITION on a QA enabled PS3 or with the ‘999’ DOWNGRADER if QA was NOT enabled.
