    XBMC

Original Xbox yes, Xbox 360 no.
  2. Tekken 3 works like a champ!
  3. If you have a nand and keyvault you can use it with usb programmer like nand-x to restore your console. Be sure when using a program like jrunner that you know what type of wiring your jtag has BEFORE you flash it as you can (as you've discovered) brick your console. Next time just use autogg by blakcat, it has an automatic update feauture that will automatically choose all of the right settings for you before you flash your console. All you have to do is ensure that both your jtag and your computer are on the same network and that your jtag is running the newest version of fsd3. Then you click uato update and viola, your console will be updated to the latest hacked kernel. If you can still boot to xell, you can use that to flash your old nand back onto your console without a nand-x programmer. Tutorials are out there, just search around a bit.
  4. Just noticed that you're using the S3 instead of the ipod, good touch!
  5. This is looking great, can't wait for a release!
  6. This looks like a great program, can't wait to give it a go!
  7. Those are some good points Garzol, however, in the presentation they said that windows will be running constantly so that they can switch between programs instantly, going from game to tv to music etc... I really worry about how much ram is going to be used to accomplish these tasks. But hey, with 8 cores running, perhaps it can compensate for the low amount of ram going into it.
  8. 8 gb of ram? I know the Xbox 360 only had 512, and maybe I'm missing something but 8 gigs for a system that's supposed to be running on that for the next 7 or 8 years seems a little weak if you ask me.

It sounds like you have one wire dying in a component cable (the cable with the red, green and blue ends) try switching it out with a new cable or start using hdmi.
  10. I absolutely second this, how much hassle could that have saved end users and skinners if they could just creat new tabs in the system settings and direct the game paths manager to scan content to add to those tabs.
  11. It never hurts to open it up and blow it out with some compressed air from time to time and that is something that anyone can do. Also, always place your xbox on a hard surface in open air, never inside of a cabinet or on your carpet.
  12. Honestly, you should never have to reball except under extreme circumstances, for instance, if you have a chip that needs to be replaced with a brand new chip because the old one has become irreparable. Reballing isn't like changing the oil in your car, it's more like putting an entirely new engine in your car.
  13. Lizardbell, with all due respect, we do not actually perform a reflow, it is more akin to wave soldering. I would also argue against a reball being a legit fix as well. Reballing adds new solder, sure, but you are doing nothing to prevent warping in your board and the disparity in heat across your motherboard during a reball AND a reflow both cause thermal shock to your board that only exacerbates the problem in the future. The basic ideas behind electronics repair are generally flawed, especially considering that the methods of repair haven't kept pace with the technology, basically having remained unchanged for over a decade. Don't believe me? Ask any repairman for a 1 year warranty on an Xbox 360 repair, they'll laugh you out of their shop because they absolutely know that 3 months for a red ring fix is an absolute stretch. To answer your question Croize, reballing is when you actually remove the chips from the surface of your motherboard in order to put new solder balls on your board with which to re-adhere the chip to.
  14. I simply wire in a 9v fan using voltages off of the DVD tray. The fans cost about $8 when purchased in bulk and install easily with a little high temperature hot glue. My gpu runs at about 55 degrees and is always cooler than my cpu. All you have to do is mount it to the frame just above your gpu's auxilary heat sink fin and make sure that it is oriented as an intake fan. It is dead simple to do once you know the dvd trays power voltages and you don't have to put up with the screaming tornado that is the 12v fan mod. I use this on both stock and modded systems along with an H-clamp from xboxxperts and have never had a problem with either the fan or the dvd tray that I'm pulling the power from. The one caveat is that it does not work well with the 2nd gen cpu heat sinks as they are a little wider and do not allow enough room for the 70 mm fans I use to fit. The astute observer will notice that the top lid for the Xbox 360 has a grated hole with an empty channel meant for funneling intake air to the Xbox 360's auxiliary gpu heat sink fin. This is the same on Xenon consoles as well, even though Xenon consoles did not originally come with a gpu heat sink that had an auxilary fin on them. Also on Xenon consoles there is an unused 3 pin molex port which would have been perfect for a variable speed speed fan as it includes a 5v, 12v and ground. This has me convinced that the 2nd gen heat sink was actually intended to be used in the first place in concert with an intake cooling fan that was never installed on any of the consoles. To give you an idea, after reflowing the solder on my machine post red rings of death using a proprietary method that my business partner and I have developed and are working to patent, I have had my machine running for hours every day with no failure for the last two and a half years. Microsoft refurbs could never even get close to this. Keep in mind, I'm running a reflowed Xenon, not a Jasper. our return rate on Xbox 360 consoles is less than 5%. Of that 5%, nearly all of those consoles were fixed using old or faulty repair methods that have wrecked the consoles due to poor methods of repair. After we have them reflowed, we throw on the h-clamp and the fan I mentioned and for the most part never see those consoles again.Sorry to toot my own horn about the reflow bit, I'm just awfully proud of it is all. Even without the reflow, a 70 mm fan (make sure you get the slim kind that they use in laptops) and an H-clamp could give you a permanent, internalized solution for about $20. However I don't know if the cooling pad would do that much since the Xbox 360 draws its air mostly from the top and sides and not the bottom, though it certainly can't hurt to try!
  15. Have you tried xm360? You run it right on your jtag, it will scan all of your content directories and automatically unlock content for you. This includes things like map packs, dlc and xbla games. You can probably find it on xbins which jpizzle has kindly programmed right into this site. The link to it is at the top of the page.
  16. I just use the Windows media center app to stream movies from my computer to my xbox over my local network. They work best using the mp4 format. Also, I use the My Movies plugin with windows media center. My movies is a free program that downloads all of the boxart as well as the imdb information for the movies in your library and displays them through Windows Media Center in a visual layout that I find looks really good. This is how I get around the fat 32 file limit nonsense. Also, if you want another way around the file limit, try ftpiing the file directly onto your Xbox from your computer.

    AutoGG 0.9.2

Thank you Blakcat! Quick question, what is Xell Blackat and how is it different from Xell reloaded?
  18. No, your tray will only run the risk of being flashed if it is done through Xbox live. The only thing you are flashing with a program like autogg is your Nand.
  19. Rather than troubleshoot, it may be easier for you to use autogg, it now has an automatic update feature and I believe there is a link to it on the main page.
  20. There is truth to this, when Microsoft first released Halo CE for the PC there was talk of implementing cross platform game play between Xbox and the PC. However, play-testing indicated that PC gamers held a significant advantage over Xbox gamers because of how easy it is to target another player using a mouse and keyboard when compared to the coordination it takes to target another player on a game-pad. I myself prefer using an unaltered Xbox 360 game pad when playing online. I feel that if I win without standard hardware I'm cheating my own victories. That's why I don't understand rapidfire mods or altered xex's, if you can't win within the rules and parameters that the game provides you, you really aren't any good at playing the game. But that's not gospel, that's just my opinion! That being said, I would be very interested in acquiring the xim for an arcade cabinet project I've been thinking of putting together. It sounds like it would be a very useful adapter for this sort of thing! Anyhow, don't mean to be a troll but I couldn't help but throw in my two cents, excellent setup by the way. I like the two systems you have running. I do the same thing, rather than dual boot an unreliable rgh, I much prefer my rock solid jtag that can boot in 0 seconds every single time, (none of this 5-30, but maybe not ever stuff!). My Jtag sits next to a limited edition retail Halo 3 console that I've retro fit with a 250 gb hard drive.
