  1. It depends on what kind of setup you have. If your router supports UPnP, you might not need to have a static IP address since the xbox configures the stuff for you. However, I find it's much easier to diagnose issues when you have a static IP address set. When it's set by you, then you can configure your port forwarding manually. If you try to set it manually while having an automatic IP, your IP address might change and then your port forwarding changes are no longer correct because they're sending the data to a different IP than your xbox. Sorry that's a long winded round-about way to explain it, but thats just how it is. In layman's terms.. if your router supports UPnP, configure you xbox to use automatic IP, if it doesn't then you need to assign a specific IP and then manually configure the port forwarding.
  2. Have you ever been able to play systemlink before? I'm thinking there's more to it than whats being said... Are you using a router, or just attempting to directly connect 2 xbox's via 1 cable? If thats the case, it won't work, you need a router or hub.
  3. Don't mean to hijack the thread here, but I have a question related to this... I tried to create a lobby of my own, just part of my beta testing progression, and it gave me some wierd error on the website about not being able to. Are you supposed to be able to do this through the Xbox or do you have to do it via the web? Also, if I were ever able to figure out how to create a room, is it possible to lock it with a password you can share with just your friends so other people can't join? Also (somewhat related) are there plans on building a method into the dash/mini-guide to show what games have active users in them so you don't have to go to the website?
  4. I think it's just people idleing. I tested a few scenarios. Room 1 was full with no games, Room 2 was about 10 people but there was a game in progress I could join. Played fine. Game over, no more games listed, went back to Room 1 and there was a game playing, but it was full. Room 2 had like 12 people now but no games, Room 3 had no people, so I joined it and started my own game. Almost immediately I got a pop up saying somebody had joined the room and then there were people in my game. There's probably people out there that are just waiting for somebody to start a game and don't want to start one themselves, but will join a game when it's going. EDIT Just figured something out... I played a game of BLOPs2 via LiNK and then decided to leave that game completely and play something else. While the other game was loading (Darksiders 2) I switched over to my PC input to check my email. The screen that I had up was the link.jqe360.com website. It says at the top "Xbox Location : Main Lobby-> Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" only I'm not even playing that game anymore! So apparently, LiNK isn't detecting when you leave a game, and it keeps your account still logged into the game lobby you were last in. That explains why there are so many people 'idleing' in the rooms, they're not actually there!
  5. Check your ip address settings. I found when I installed the new LiNK beta, it reset my ip address to AUTOMATIC ASSIGN instead of the static I had originally set. Mentioned it here too: http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?/topic/484-issues-im-having/
  6. I have a similar issue that I posted here: http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?/topic/484-issues-im-having/ Something you should try; go into the Metro dash (Hold RB while booting) and check that you can connect to the network. For me, it seems like the network is in some kind of sleep mode until you wake it up with a test to your PC. Just doing the test, whether you connect to a PC or not, seems to fix the network. Just wierd you gotta do that every time you boot up. I willing to bet its a minor bug (harder to find than a major bug) because not a lot of people seem to be having this problem.
  7. Just curious if theres anybody else out there having these issues. So I'm putting them down here so you all can chime in and possibly provide me some solutions... 1) Loss of Dolby Digital. Prior to the new F3 dash, whenever I would load up the X-Box (Jasper 256mb via HDMI) it would boot into the FSD 2 dash and be in Dolby Digital Surround. Ever since upgrading to F3, my X-Box now just goes into Stereo. If I go to the official dash (Metro?) it says it's in Dolby Digital, but won't output that way until I switch it first to Digital Stereo then back to Dolby Digital. I'm not sure what the issue here is. It's like F3 isn't handling the passthrough and is instead downmixing. 2) Loss of Network/Internet Connectivity. This has happened in the latest beta that brought LiNK and the new web interface. I have my X-Box set with a static IP address so my router could be properly configured for port forwarding. In the past, the X-Box would boot up and everything would be connected and able to download updates/etc with no problem. Now when I boot up, it just sits there. F3 reports it has the same IP address, but there is no activity; updates don't download and the weather plugin gets N/A data. I can get around this by exiting back to the official dash (Metro?) and then doublechecking the static settings and then it works by testing the PC connection. When I then return to F3, everything suddenly works, downloading weather data and missing art/etc. Again, I'm not sure what could be causing this. It might have something to do with the new LiNK or web interface, although I'm not sure how. In fact, I noticed when I first installed this latest beta, my default IP address settings had reverted back to an Automatic Assign setting, which kept me from connecting to the router altogether. This isn't a MAJOR issue, since I don't do a lot of online stuff, but it's annoying when you get a new game on the drive and then have to go through all the steps before you can download artwork. Both of these issues are directly related to F3, whereas the 2nd one is more to do with the latest update. I really like F3 and don't want to downgrade back to an earlier version to settle these issues. Has anybody else noticed or experienced similar problems? What can I do to fix these aside from my workarounds? Is this maybe just a true -bug- that needs looked at by the devs for a new version? Thans for your time, and thanks a lot to the devs for building such an awesome interface!
  8. Looks cool, nice to see something thats an actual PLUGIN so we won't see that 'Reserved for future use' popup all the time.
  9. The fact that Sony has a free server makes me wonder why M$ continues to charge. They don't offer anything special that Sony doesn't. I had an idea about making a Live-like service; incorporate some kinda of bittorrent protocol, where each user's xbox shares in the total bandwith for the service. You don't have to be using the service to 'seed' your bandwith. The more people, the bigger the server. Everybody has their share. If there was a dedicated server, then ya I could understand costs, but a company like M$ charging for access is ubsurd. We really need to figure out some form of alternative.
  10. So I have my console connected to a Surround Receiver via HDMI. When I used to start up F2, it would switch to Dolby Digital automatically. Now with F3, it seems that it doesn't. My receiver stays in Stereo mode until I boot into the official dash (Holding RB during boot) and going into the console settings/audio tab and manually switching it up to Stereo and then back to Dolby. I only noticed it the other day when I realized I was playing a game in just plain stereo instead of Surround Sound. It might be because of the fakeanim plugin for Dashlaunch or the skin I'm using, not really sure. Has anybody else experienced this issue or know of a fix besides the one I mentioned? It's not a BIG issue since I can work around it, and F3 is still really new; it's just annoying.
  11. This is exciting. With it all integrated, we won't have to worry about setting up the PC side. That should make it a lot easier for people to just get started and play. I really hate xLink Kai anymore because there is NEVER anybody on playing, those that are are in South America that I can't understand. Can't wait to use this and see more people on.
  12. Just curious if this was ever fixed. I haven't setup Xlink since upgrading to F3 because I read this was an issue. Thanks!
  13. The login changed for FSD3.. try 'f3http'
  14. First of all, I love the new build. CoverFlow looks awesome! Now for my problem.. I was able to install FSD3 over top of FSD2 via the install CD. All my games and everything still exist. I mapped the folders exactly how I had them before (I wrote them down). However, my Emulators all seem to merge into the Homebrew tab of the library instead of the Emulation tab. Not a huge issue currently, as I hardly ever use them. Just thought I'd mention it incase somebody else has a similar problem so the dev guys can take a look and fix it with an update patch. Also, I'm curious as to how the whole disk swap thing works. On games like Rage where it's just a straight progression from disk 1 to 3, do we still just hide disk 2 and 3 and FSD takes care of swapping on its own, or do we need to do something else to enable it or make it work? Great work guys, can't wait to get some hard use out of it!
