System Link is grey, whatever I've tried

Recommended Posts

Hello everybody,

Whatever I've tried I always have System Link option grey in games :(

I've tried 2-3 games with latest TU (BO Pre-sequel, COD AW, F1 2014)

I have a RGH X360, with FSD 3.0b Rev 735 kernel 16547 default skin. "System Link Patched" is displayed near avatar.

Also have a TP-Link Router (TL-WR740N) with following setting ref Xbox:

- static IP for console

- UPNP enabled

- port forwarding settings for 3071 & 3072 (not sure if 100% correct, some doubts on port triggering settings, incoming ports ? (pls see attached)

Already reset Api key on Unity/Jqe360 site ... no results. Same for deleting content from "Plugins/UserData" . Also unload/load F3Plugin

A possible problem could be that tick box  "Always ON" (from Link settigs menu) doesn't remain marked after exiting this menu option (pls see attached).

Even tried to manually edit settings.db file ... I put value "1" in GlobalSettingsEnableLink field (not sure if correct value)... tick still missed.

Any idea, what else can I try ?

Thanks !

@mrknorton: are you absolutely sure that rev 775 can solve my issue? I'm not so confortable to update myself... I'll start reading about updating ...

@Orel1576: as mentioned, I already reset api key and reconnect with Jqe360 after that ... Nothing changed

If anything else to try, please ..... before proceding with dash update.

Rev 735 don't work with the current LiNK implementation... 775 is the only functional one for that ;) (besides Aurora that is)

@Swizzy: Ok, thanks, I'll update after some reading about...

Something special to pay attention during update, not to lose some data ?

Just make sure to use something other then the FSD you're updating when replacing the files...

Just plonk it into the homebrew folder, scan it if not set to autoscan & presto. If you intend to update instead then use ftp & create a backup copy of your current dash before you bork anything

ps: by current dash i mean the whole fsd folder wich will inc settings & covers etc

@Swizzy: "Just make sure to use something other then the FSD you're updating when replacing the files..."

Meaning use FTP or other file manager instead of FSD Utility Manager, yes?

@saywaking: Step by step ...let me first try with 775 rev :), then i'll think to move to Aurora

@scorpNZ: Seems easy that way, I'll check homebrew menu later, after work.

Which folders to backup before for safety? Freestyle folder from OnBoardMU is enough ?

Could I have problems with Avatar and/or Kinect drivers after update ? Covers, TUs, games screenshots will be kept ?

Anyhow, later today I'll search this forum for update procedures....

PS. I've also noticed an Update option on FSD menu, could I make the update through that option ?

Sort of... you shouldn't use FTP running from FSD... basically, start something else, another instance of FSD (start it from USB for example and use it from there, or start aurora from there... or xexmenu from anywhere...)

Just make sure you don't try to replace files that might be in use... and, i'd recommend that you go to the settings and unload the plugin to make sure it gets updated as well...

It depends on where FSD is installed, OnBoardMU: yeah, then copy that folder to your computer...

You shouldn't have any problems with Kinect, Covers, TU's etc. it should all be kept... the update function no longer work otherwise that would've been the best option...

@Swizzy: ok, i've read all F3_r775 topic, downloaded package ..  still few questions remains, so please have mercy :blushing:

First off all I think I'll install from USB via XEXMenu (have ver 1.1 installed), because no FTP through stock dashboard or XEXMenu.

Also want to keep ver 735 just in case (located now on OnboardMU)... and install 775 in a new folder on HDD due to storage space reson

Now some questions:

1. update to 775 will keep the actual kernel version, as I believe updating kernel  is matter of flashing, right ?

2.  have to copy in new 775 folder the 735 "Frestyle/Data" folder content (with TUs, covers, game data) or can i somehow just point to old 735 location ?

3 . where to set in dashlaunch "autoboot FSD on startup" as default ... didn't find such an option on actual 735 rev  ... is it a separate homebrew app that i have to install for that? Or just editing launch.ini is enough ?.. but which one to edit ? because now have one in MU/Frestyle folder and other two in Root/Flash folder (these two with identical size & timestamp ?! ... also launch.xex and lhelper.xex from Flash are duplicated)

and any other tips to have a smooth tranzition, without loosing data ...

Thank you for your support

1. Yes, kernel stays the same until you reflash the nand while following this tutorial: http://xebuildtut.xeupd.com/

2. You need to copy the old data folder to keep your old settings, covers etc. otherwise FSD will just run as it was a fresh install (which it technically is)

3. Dashlaunch runs from the NAND, you need to download and run the installer for it to configure it, or edit the launch.ini file usually found in hdd1:\ onboardmu:\ or flash:\ (it can be any device the xbox 360 can read, always in the root of it)

I recommend putting it on your HDD once edited, this will be the first device to be read to find the configuration to use, the others are then ignored... the last one to be loaded if no others are found is the one in flash...
