Aurora freezes up when trying to access "Settings" option

Recommended Posts

I checked it and the top of the filles does look the same.

Anyway, i think we've managed to locate the problem, i deleted the freestyle plugin from the plugin directories of both FSD and Aurora,

rebooted my console and it stopped freezing up.

It seems to be working fine now.

I tried to work with it for about a day and other than one forced reboot during a game encountered no problems.

I noticed in Aurora that when i check the dash info in the plugin line it says ???... is it ok ? is it safe to work with it that way ?

Also when i browsed the settings there was one setting that defines the freestyle plugin to launch at startup, should i undo that setting or leave it as it is ?

Furthermore, what is this plugin for ? is it really needed ? is it safe to work without it in FSD and Aurora ? and if  it is needed, is there any workaround

we can try to make it work ?

If not, can i replace it with another plugin that will fulfill its functions ?

Sorry but i'm not really an expert on these kind of stuff, my knowledge is kind of lacking, an explaination would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Sure, the reason it shows "???" is because it doesn't know what version the plugin is (since it's not available)

You can leave it as-is, it won't make a difference as it fails to load a plugin that's not there and continues anyways... (just logs the error that's it)

The plugin is used for LiNK and/or screenshots for example... unless you plan on playing games on LiNK it's not really needed ;)

We can try to figure out what the crash is caused by, but it's not particularly easy... it could be a collision with something else running on your system for whatever reason or it could be something entirely different... hard to say...

Got it, thanks for the explaination.

Is LINK the current online method or is there a different one used in Aurora ?

Anyway, i would still like to play online and take screenshots from time to time, and stuff like that, so isn't there anyway to make the plugin work ?

and if not, isn't there any other plugin i could use to replace the "default" freestyle plugin, that will function the same as it does ?

Anyway, i would still like to try and figure out what the crash is caused by, if it's ok with you,  for the plugin and in order to prevent future problems that

may occur because of it.

Thanks.

P.S - when you said the top of the files, you meant the top of the text in the files right ? because it does look about the same.

Anyway, thanks for all the help, it is really appreciated.

LiNK is used with both FSD and Aurora, there's a new version in development tho; LiNKv2 which will ONLY be supported by Aurora, at which point support for the current LiNK system will be dropped (when it's all finished and released)

We'd have to look into the crash offset of the plugin in order to find what the cause is for the crash in order to help you, and right now i don't have the time to spend to track it down =/

Yes, when i said the top of the files, i meant the top of the callstack textfiles

Oh, i understand.

Anyway, you still haven't answered my question, is there anyway to make the plugin work, other than looking at the offset, and if not, is there an

option to use a replacement plugin in the meantime, which will function the same, or is the "default" freestyle plugin the only plugin availible ?

It's unfortunate you don't have the time to work on it right now, i'll try and figure things out by myself for the meantime, any suggestions would be

appreciated.

I'd be happy if you could check this out for me when you're availible, and update me on what you found, maybe you could PM me or something...

thanks.

On another note, i'm still not able to run the 3.16 Dashlaunch Installer, as i stated in one of my previous posts, still getting an error message.

Do you know of any way to fix this issue ?

Anyway, thanks for all the help, i really appreciate it.

Without looking at the offsets it's impossible to know what causes the crash, you've already tried what we usually recommend to try and fix the issue; Replace all data, start clean

There's no replacement for the FSD Plugin at this time, and no other plugin have the same features the FSD Plugin does

What error are you getting when running the Dashlaunch 3.16 installer? perhaps you are running one of the unofficial kernel stuff? or perhaps you have a dashlaunch plugin which messes things up? (both of those could also cause issues with the FSD Plugin actually) I would recommend that you read the tutorial linked in my signature below and follow it, that way you'll rule out kernel issues out of the equation

HI.

I have this issue as well (luckily I did not start a new thread regarding this problem).

Same problem; going to "Settings" (pressing Start button) crashed/froze the console and I have to reset. Previously using FSD3 with latest kernel for Jtag system.

I used Dashlaunch 3.16 to shortcut the Aurora dash by holding X button, rather than make it as default and I tried lauching Aurora from internal to external HDD from FSD, still the crashed happens.

Also have tried different version; 0.4b and 0.5b and still the same.

Possible that I have to fresh install the FSD3 first to get rid of plugins?

EDIT: Forgot to mention that I cleaned up the plugin file, but not the whole FSD file dash, and the froze happened. I assume that there might some leftover plugins setting or other things that I don't know and have not clean up, So, could it be that cause?

Everything aurora related is in the aurora folder...

Please show us you launch.ini using spoiler tags as there may be things there causing problems aswell

I understand.

Well, i guess i'll have to wait until you have the time to work on it... thanks anyway.

Regarding the Dashlaunch issue, when i try to open the 3.16 Installer, it throws me off to the Microsoft dash and shows up this

error message : "The game couldn't start, try downloading the game again, for more help visit www.xbox.com/support".

Tried with FSD, Aurora and Xex Menu and got the same result.

I don't know what unofficial kernel you are referring to, as far as i know my kernel is official, i just downloaded the proper NXE version and updated

my kernel to it.

I don't have any dashlaunch plugins running, you looked at my launch.ini log yourself, there were no plugins loaded.

I browsed your tutorial, when i updated my kernel i did exactly as it says, incluiding Simple Nand Flasher, only with J-Runner, which is integrated

with xeBuild as far as i
know.

Where did you download it from? and what name did it have?

The official packages never have a kernel version in the name, they're simply "xeBuild GUI 2.##" or "xeBuild 1.##", JRunner have auto-updating (within the application itself)

Anything specifying version in the filename such as 17489 is most likely a unofficial patchset, which can lead to all kinds of wierd issues...

The current versions of these tools are xeBuild GUI 2.097 and xeBuild 1.16, Dashlaunch is at 3.16, anything older then that is going to be unofficial (if it's updating to the latest kernel for you) and should not be trusted

Generally when you get the error you mentioned, it's because of a bad plugin for Dashlaunch or a bad download/transfer, possibly even bad patches...
