Shuraim Ahmet 29 Posted July 26, 2014 Hey guyz after a lot of thought i have decided to start learning to solder so i could fix the problems myself... I even bought a solder to try and get the hang of it. Swizzy 2085 Posted July 26, 2014 Handy tools: Soldering station instead of just a pen like that, this allows you to control the heat... I'd recommend that you start practicing on a dead motherboard or so, just try connecting wires, removing components and putting them back etc. it's a good way to get started... another good way is to buy "kits" where you get components and such to build electronics... Thanx Swizzy! Yeah I've got few old graphic cards and pc motherboards i'll practice on them first, I've seen those team xecuters kits but they are very expensive because of shipment charges so I'll look for tweezers and screwdrivers at the local market. And by the way that solder sucktion tool is called "de-soldering pump" in english and "sökme pompa" in turkish. Thanx mate.
Swizzy 2085 Posted July 27, 2014 i didn't mean Team Xecuter kits... those are generally already done... What i meant was stuff like this: http://www.conrad-electronic.co.uk/ce/en/product/072492/Velleman-MK102-flashing-LEDs-kit it's a kit of parts you buy with instructions... you then put it all together using soldering... datastream 101 Posted July 27, 2014 get your self a "brass sponge" By avoiding the thermal shock of touching a damp sponge, it stops the iron from losing it's temps when soldering important joints. Make sure you get your self some "flux" and also an abrasive fiber glass pen. Clean the joints and the connections and as Swizzy says get lots of practice in on old mother boards and cards etc. anything electrical. To remove solder, get as Swizzy says a Solder Sucker, or some Solder braid. then practice on boards removing solder from connections or headers. practice makes perfect
