crossover cables are a thing of the past, surly you have a "router"

You also need to set manual IP settings (i think) like so:Xbox 1:IP: 192.168.0.1Netmask: 255.255.255.0Gateway: 192.168.0.2Xbox 2:IP: 192.168.0.2Netmask: 255.255.255.0Gateway: 192.168.0.1Atleast, that's something that was required in the old Xbox times (before Xbox 360)If you have a router, just plug them into it and unload LiNK... then you can keep automatic settings

I doubt OP is using a true cross over cable as well... @ OP there not your standard ethernet as all the switching is taking care of by the router...switches etc. These days.
