J-Runner and bad blocks , trying to learn whats going on

Recommended Posts

hi Swizzy JPizzle and RMS members ,  i am going to be attempting my first RGH when the CR4 is released and im a little stuck on this issue.

bad blocks.............

i will be using J-Runner software of course and in the below photo that i found it looks to me like a bad block was found @ 0x17 Offset 0x5EE00 and then remapped to 0x3FF Offset 0x107BE00

is that correct ?

im trying to learn and identify when a bad block has been remapped so i dont have to worry when J-Runner finds one

Yes, for a 16MB nand the first found badblock is remapped to 3FF, the next goes to 3FE, 3FD, 3FC, 3FB, 3FA, 3F9 etc. etc.

JRunner should handle badblocks automatically for you, so don't worry about it... in the past it was something you had to deal with entirely on your own, back then it could be a royal pita... now a days it's quite rare that you have issues with it...
