Profile data lost during transfer

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I have a bit of an issue. I went to transfer my profile on to a USB drive to use on another console (I left all my saves on the HDD) but when I place the dive into the other xbox it won't read. I put it back to the original Xbox that it came out of and still won't see the drive. I then put it into my PC under Win 7 and looks like the data was corrupted so I managed to recover it with a recovery app but it just got the data files out which Windows 7 sees (i.e. Data0000, Data0001, Data0002, ect.) would anyone know how to reinstate the data back on to a USB drive so the xbox will read it in order to get the profile back to the xbox it came out of so that I can use my game saves again. Or perhaps rebuild the profile some how to use my game saves again. The profile is not an xbox live one and I do have a jtag. Thanks in advance for any advice you may offer!

those files should be in a hidden folder named "Xbox 360"Just make a new memory unit on the box, put the files back and hope it works, otherwise just load them using something like PartyBuffalo and extract the contents of it and put in a new one =)

You know what Swizzy....that's exactly what I thought too and theoretically it should work but I tried to make a new memory unit on the box and even used a duplicate 32 gig flash drive ( same make, model and size ) but for some unknown reason it formats just a few megs short of its twin. That said the old data won't fit on it so then I formatted a 64gig flash and that one formatted with 32gig because the box is limited to format only to that size which gave me enough space to get the files into that xbox360 hidden directory. But when I put it back in the box with the new files in place the box would not read it. Then I tried using Party Buffalo (two diffrent versions older and a newer one) on two diffrent PCs but they would not recognize my xbox formatted drives not even my HDD1 from the box. Then I figured I could just modify the saves to work with a new profile so I wanted to try exProfileEditor which claims to be able to extract saves along with the achievements and transfer them to a new profile so I tried that as well and two versions later and two PCs later the drives were not detected. Finally I gave it a shot with Modio which saw the drives and dumped my saves from my HDD1 like a charm but at first gave me various problems moving profiles and saves with flash drives (became corrupted as well when put back in to the box). After a few failed attempts with the 32 & 64gig drives I managed to get a 4gig drive to do the job for me. The only downside is that it appears Modio can't copy the achivements along with the save. I wish exProfileEditor would work for me but at least I got my FallOut 3 saves out and all working.

Thanks for the hep Swizzy!
