Confused...Help Needed !!!

Recommended Posts

HI,

Well after 3 days trying to get it to work , and numerous you tube clips...I think I'm going to finally give in , unless someone can help me ??

I have a 4gb Slim RGH XBox 360 with a 500GB external Hard drive attached ( which has around 50-60 games on it)

I am on the latest Dash launch and the latest freestyle dash.

I am basically trying to use DLC.

I have tried numerous times , copying over the Black Ops Nuketown/Revolution DLC to my External Hard drive in the 'Content Folder' to no avail...I then noticed on some post that DLC can't be played on an external Hard Drive.....so then installed it to my 'Content Folder' on the MU on the Xbox 360, still with no luck.

I have used numerous programs (content manager, horizon, FTP) with still no luck.

I have copied over the title updates...still no luck.

I still cant fathom out what I am doing wrong.

Could someone please answer me these questions to maybe help me understand it a bit more :

1. Can DLC be used on an external hard drive ? Can DLC be used on Internal MU unit ? Or do I have to purchase the internal HDD ?

2. On freestyle dash....what should my game paths be ? They are currently USB0/Games , USB0/Arcade, USB0Apps.---Should I add the 'Content' folder or even the 'onboard Mu Content folder' ??

3. Should, after adding Title updates via FTP they show up on my Freestyle Dash ' manage Title Updates' tab ?? I copied over update 6 for Black ops, but it didn't show...only when I 'Downloaded' the updates via the dash was I able to set it active.

As you can probably work out, I'm fairly new to the whole jtag/rgh scene with a limited but expanding knowledge of all things xbox !! This site has helped me immensely over the past few days, but now I'm totally stumped.

Please any help would appreciated

many thanks

S

1. Yes and No, you can use it from an external harddrive if it's "USBMU" (formatted by the box) this adds a maximum of 32GB of space... the TU needs to also be in USBMU or the internal memory's cache/content folder, depending on the type of TU...

2. doesn't matter much... best is to have like you do... so you know what games are what...

3. Not sure, i think it doesn't work with manually added ones, however... you most likely didn't place them in the correct path anyways...

Excellent Swizzy, thanks for your helpful and prompt reply. At least I what you're telling me is something different to what I have done already.

Is it possible to let the Xbox 'Configure' my external hard drive therefore adding 32GB for DLC whilst keeping all my games, arcade , software on the hard drive at the same time ? or will I lose everything ??

Thanks again, great help

Not sure if it saves the data, i don't really remember... my recommendation is that you backup the current data before formatting (configuring) the harddrive... that way you don't lose anything...

Once you've formatted/oonfigured it for USBMU you can use the remaining space for whatever without a problem =)

I am not an expert like these guys but generally I find there are less issues when running from an internal drive rather than running from usb.

If your 500gb driveis 2.5 inch Sata, can't you transfer your games off onto your pc or other drive and use that inside your xbox?
