ConnectX, Samba problems

Recommended Posts

Hi!

I have this strange problem, my Xbox360 can't connect to :smb shares on my network, and doesn't show the :conx folder. I followed the tutorials on how to setup samba and connectx - did exactly what I was asked - and still nothing.

The strange part is, that my computers can connect to xbox via samba, http, ftp. Also, When I go to NXE and do the "Test connection to PC", it shows that everything is fine!

I tried wired connection, wireless connection, with the routher, without the router (directly to PC); fsd 3 and fsd 2.2 - still no luck.

The debug.log shows the following:

13:36:52.300|SourceFileList|F9000000|Permission was denied, or some other error

13:36:52.296|FileBrowser|F9000000|Could not open directory [smb:/] (2:No such file or directory)

However, I set my permissions to EVERYONE, so...

I'm really baffled here...

I'd appreaciate any help very much. Thank you.

No - still no clue what's causing this.

Also, my friend, who is a network administrator, took a look at this situation and said that everything is wired/set-up correctly and he also has no idea what the hell is happening. And I'm not the only one, whose Xbox360 is "blind". On russian forums some people are talking about the same issue with no resolution.

What OS are you sharing from?  SMB doesn't work on my Win7 but only because it cannot get past the main PC name (asks for name pass).  The conX works fine for me though as I can specify a folder name.  Maybe a setting or path is whacky in the db's?  You could backup (rename) the db's and fsd will re-create them at startup, then enable SMB again and see if it works?
