Some questions about Aurora on a modded XBox 360

Recommended Posts

I bought an XBox 360 that came with RGH + Aurora + DashLaunch pre-installed, and it's brilliant! I am new to all of this, though, so I

do have the following questions, if I may:

1. The 360 is set up so that I use the pre-installed profile (called 'Keep Me'), but is it possible to safely copy this profile, in case the original

becomes corrupted or wrongly deleted? If so, can I rename a copy of the profile to a name of my choice and use that one? Can I backup

a copy to a USB stick?

2. Is it possible to add custom wallpapers to Aurora? If so, what format, resolution and colour depth is needed?

3.  Using DashLaunch, I have set up the 360 to always autoboot to Aroura, which is really convenient. But if I want to bypass

this, say to go to the standard XBox 360 dashboard instead, then can this be done (short of loading up Aroura, then going

to DashLaunch to disable autoloading, then resetting the 360)?

4. Can you boot up via USB to access the hard drive? In case, say the hard drive becomes corrupted and won't boot? Is there a good guide on doing this, and

maybe one on how to set up a RGH XBox 360? I don't need it yet, but in case say the hard drives breaks and I have to start again with a new hard drive. I don't

know anything about setting up an RGH 360 from scratch (as I said, I bought it already set it), but I'd be interested in reading about what software to

download and install, how it works, and so on.

5. I imagine the 'RGH' is a hardware mod (as opposed to a soft(ware) mod, like on many modded original XBoxes). If so, is the entirety of the RGH mechanism

in the chip(s), and so there  is no RGH related code on the hard drive that can get corrupted or deleted? I ask because otherwise it seems like if this code

was corrupted or deleted then the 360 wouldn't be able to boot unsigned code, which would (I imagine) make it extremely difficult for me to re-install

DashLaunch, Aroura, and everything else necessary.

I won't be playing online (I've never been a fan of online multiplayer), so I have no questions there.

Thanks for any answers.

1. No you can delete it, there's no need for you to keep that profile what so ever.

2. Yes, they go into Aurora/User/Backgrounds. As what format/size I don't know.

3.It'll load Aurora if it's set to. I think there is a way to load the console and skipping the DashLaunch settings but I'm not sure how. Just let Aurora load and when you try to go the dashboard, hold LB or RB. Not sure which hahaha This will boot the OG Dash just once.

4. I don't understand your wording on this... I'm just going to say yeah you can run off a USB all the time, the console doesn't need the official hard drive to run. Just make sure you format the USB for the console via the storage settings. Keep a fresh copy of Dashlaunch and Aurora on the root of this hard drive and you'll be sweet. If it was to fail it's just a case of redownloading any games/apps you had originally and putting them on again.

5. It's all hardware. Once the console has been RGH'd it's had a new nand flashed so it's not going to fail because of a corrupted/deleted file.

***it's been a long long time since i've fully messed with my rgh, so of this info could be wrong/outdated by now lol

To safely copy and backup the profile named "Keep Me" on your Xbox 360, you can follow these steps:

Go to the Xbox 360 dashboard.
Navigate to the "System Settings" menu.
Select "Storage" and choose the storage device where the profile is located.
Locate the profile named "Keep Me" and select it.
Choose the option to "Move" or "Copy" the profile to a USB stick or another storage device.
You can rename the copied profile to a name of your choice if desired.
By doing this, you'll have a backup copy of the profile in case the original gets corrupted or deleted. You can restore the backup by moving or copying it back to the Xbox 360's storage device.

Yes, you can add custom wallpapers to Aurora. The wallpapers need to be in JPEG format with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. The color depth should be 24-bit (true color). You can transfer the custom wallpapers to your Xbox 360 by connecting a USB stick to the console and copying the wallpapers to the "Backgrounds" folder in the Aurora folder on the USB stick. Then, in Aurora, you can navigate to the settings and choose the custom wallpaper from the available options.

If you want to bypass the autoloading of Aurora and boot directly to the standard Xbox 360 dashboard, you can hold the Guide button on your controller (the Xbox logo button in the center) while the console is starting up. This will load the default dashboard instead of Aurora.

In case your hard drive becomes corrupted and won't boot, you can indeed boot up the Xbox 360 using a USB stick. However, the process of setting up an RGH Xbox 360 from scratch and installing the necessary software is beyond the scope of this response. It's recommended to refer to detailed guides and tutorials specific to RGH consoles to understand the steps involved in setting up a new hard drive and installing the required software. You can search online for comprehensive resources or visit modding communities and forums for assistance.

RGH (Reset Glitch Hack) is indeed a hardware modification that involves installing a chip to exploit the Xbox 360's boot process. The RGH chip bypasses security checks, allowing unsigned code to run on the console. The RGH-related code resides on the chip itself, and there is no RGH-specific code stored on the hard drive that can be corrupted or deleted. Therefore, even if the hard drive encounters issues, the RGH functionality should remain intact.

RGH is a hardware and software mod. It typically uses a chip (Ace v3, coolrunner Rec C) to glitch the CPU enabling modified code to be injected from the nand file. The RGH code is saved to the nand file, which is its own chip on the motherboard. You can continue to launch RGH consoles without storage devices due to this.

You can load Xexmenu 1.2 very easily with a computer and usb drive onto a fresh hard drive if you ever experience total drive disk failure!
