  1. looking good. i am just asking. how far we from seeing webUI. do you guys plan on adding support for 360 content manager. thanks all you guys.

If it gives you any indication, I can say that we have not started webUI and that its currently low priority.   That said- it'll come when its ready, I suppose.

As far as adding support for 360 content manager- its actually 360 content manager that needs to add support for Aurora.  So to that, I say never.

  2. Hello everyone!

I know it's been a while since our last update- and while we had some down time for the holidays- we've been hard at work on the newest set of features for Aurora and wanted to get everyone a sneak peek. The following information and pictures are not final, so with that in mind, check it out:

    Additions
ConnectXConnect X will be back in- so you can continue to view and run your libraries from your network drives, just like you did in Freestyle3.

Content SearchIn the Browse Menu (X), we've added the ability to search for games in your library. When you enter the browse menu, you'll be able to press (Y) and popup a keyboard that will prompt you to enter search terms or search patterns. Upon confirm your search, the game list will filter itself.

Quick ViewThis is a big addition that we are finally finalizing in Aurora and feel it is going to bridge the gap between the power of filters and the outcry for folders.

Let me explain how they work. A quick view is a combination of filters using operators such as AND, OR, NOT and ( ). They are fully configurable and user definable, complete with their own icon, name. In addition to filters, they are also tied to sort type, sort order, and of course favorites / show hidden games.

For example, one of the preset Quick View's we'll be including is the 'Xbox 360' quick view. As you know- when you select the Xbox 360 folder, you'll also get Kinect games in that list. The 'Xbox 360' quick view creates a custom combination of filters equivalent to 'Xbox 360 AND NOT Kinect' where Xbox 360 and Kinect are normal filters.

Once you have configured and defined all of the quick views you want to have. When you press LB and RB on your controller, while on the main menu- you will be able to bring up the Quick View Selector where you can quickly swap between your different views.

We feel this is an extremely powerful feature with endless options- 100% user configurable and definable and will make accessing your library unique to you.

Stay tuned for the upcoming release.  As usual; thanks for helping us test and improve Aurora and we look forward to bringing more functionality in the future.

  3. That is corret

Unity only accept full size covers (900x600), and that'd explain it... the cover probably comes from xbox.com =)

That is correct- in FSD- if a cover does not exist on XboxUnity, it will download a front cover from Xbox.com and build a full cover.   This concept has been abandoned in Aurora- as its far too taxing on the system and is part of what causes choppiness in FSD.

We opted to rely strictly on XboxUnity as that benefits everyone two ways-  (1) it makes Aurora less choppy and run more fluently, and (2) it encourages people to upload missing covers to XboxUnity where then everyone can download those covers.

  4. Xbox 1 Classic games on LiNK should be possible with current public release of Freestyle Plugin.    I know it works because I spent a lot of time getting it to work....

What really needs to happen is I need to spend some time digging into the plugin to see what its looking for from Xbox Unity that it is no longer getting since the domain change, that is keeping it from working.

However, that isn't a high priority for me right now, so it will have to wait.

  5. Just installed Aurora 0.4b, can't get FTP working.  FTP servers in Freestyle and XEXMenu both work fine.  I know the problem is the password, and I read on another thread that the default username/pass is xboxftp.  Problem is that in the Aurora settings you can clearly see that the password is 8 characters, but xboxftp is 7.  The FTP server will not accept the passwords xboxftp or xbox ftp.  What is the actual password, and how do I change it so that I can use the same site profile in flashfxp whether I'm using Freestyle, Aurora or XEXMenu?

Edit: nevermind, I don't know what the problem was, but after a reboot it let me change the password.

The number of * in the password box is always 8.... it doesn't reveal the number of characters in the password.

  6. Amazing!

I found one more thing, I promise last one haha.

So let's say I hold down a button on 360 startup to go to Aurora instead of FSD (or whatever).

Aurora will register the held button once it loads and 'press' it once the Aurora splash screen is gone.

So for instance, I hold A down, Aurora loads, splash screen almost immediately goes away, then the game menu shows briefly, then it loads the game.

Just wanted to throw that out there!

P.S. any talk of where someone might be able to send donations?

For donations see the Original Post in this thread.  There is a donation button ^_^

  7. I didnt know that there was a "staff" involved in all of this. I was under the impression that staff members got paid, and since all of this awesome work that you, phoenix, c0z, and all the other homebrew writers for the xbox were all volunteers, that accept donations(Ideas or money). I didnt know that there were moderators on link, I know on the private rooms the creator can kick out users, but I cant recall anyone ever getting kicked out of a public room, who werent hosting modded lobbies in public rooms, and people do that all the time.

lol- staff was probably the wrong word!   we need more trust worthy people in this scene who can help moderate LiNK.   one day.......... one day...

  8. When using trainers designed for Aurora, is it necessary to reboot the system whenever I want to switch to another trainer and game?  I know traditional trainers reside in the RAM until the system is rebooted.

No, - no reboots should be required.   This was actually part of the requirements for being 'Aurora Compatible'.  Trainers must be unloadable and completely restore any kernel/xam memory it may have touched while running.  Thus, allowing you to load a new trainer without crashes or a cold boot.

If a trainer is crashing or not letting you unload, please let the trainer author know of the problem so it can be fixed.

  9. Why does Aurora even make backups of hard-installed title updates?

I know that soft TUs get automatically deleted after some time from the cache, but hard TUs don't. They are stored in content/00000000000000 and stay there. No need for duplicates. And since hard TUs get bigger and bigger nowadays, these backups seem like a total waste of space.

Would be great if Aurora would stop doing that... or at least have a setting for duplicating soft TUs only.

They are backed up because if you want to deactivate a TU- for a game, you have to delete it.   The next time you want to activate it, you have to redownload it.

With no back up, if you have TU 15 of a game, and want to use TU 14, you have to delete TU15 then redownload TU14.  Then say you want to activate TU15 again, now you have to delete TU14 and redownload TU15.    Bottom line is, hard drive space is less likely to be an issue / inconvenience than redownloading 50-900MB Tus everytime you want to switch them.      Lesser of two evils.

We back them up so you only download once, then if you want to enable/disable the TU its just a matter of copying from the back up location to the right place.

  10. Nice! Aurora will kick ass in my 360 when it haves ConnectX and SMB, for now I just like to mess around with it. =)

Why can't I send more than 4 files at the same time through FTP? I always send 5 through FSD...

And you guys should encourage people to upload Xbox Live Indie Games covers!

Like, upload 5 XBLIG covers and win a piece of cake

What FTP client are you using?
