are the 2 main questions you need to answer first..

but to answer your question BLINDLY.. use jrunner/xebuild to update your nand image with the latest version of dashlaunch.. which will be 3.14..

and I would have run it though the ceiling, that usually has more room. :)with the crawl space and stuff. unless there is a second story, in which case, it might be harder. you could always run it along the outside of the house in a pipe(helps prevent people from pulling wired MIM attacks) and through the wall.

Unless you do what i did with Aurora Language Compiler... i reversed/figured out the format(s) used and built my own tool doing the same thing, microsoft cannot sue me for releasing my own code doing the same thing as their code does unless i copy 'n' pasted their code or they can prove that i looked at their code to figure out how it works... (i only looked at the output to figure it out, it's easy formats tho)

XUI/XUR is ALOT harder to work with, there are a ton of different attributes, different controls etc. etc. XUI is relatively simple... it's just a XAML basically while XUR is a binary representation of that data

There are issues with creating a "AIO Skinning Program":

1. All apps required from XDK are technically owned by microsoft, and anyone trying to distribute them in a packaged deal like this would probably get sued.

2. Every new version of aurora changes the way it interacts with skins to some degree, so the author of the app will have to understand not only programming, but creating skins for the app. Most programmers dont really care about frontends, as long as they get the end result they want.

3. It is alot of work to maintain. Refer to #2.

4. there are scripts, and other things that go into skins, and those are subject to change with a new version of aurora.

 

I could keep going, but I think it is best to leave it the way it is.

 

The sdk isnt really an all in one tool for skinning, it is a programming interface for creating xbox apps, now alot of the tools required to create the skins are in the sdk, but the sdk alone wont allow you to import some graphics, and a coverflow file, and magically make it a skin.

ahaha yeah there isnt an easy way to do it.. unless you pull a swizzy and make it yourself..

just copy to directory and it should work.. gavin is working on adding FTP to this currently.. im pretty sure that was an accident.. but use that dll.. as it was supposed to be there..

Yeah bridging works great,i did it to see what would happen i didn't realize at the time it would join them together & do what i wanted,it meant i didn't need another long ether cable going up the hallway in a spare room to the modem/router (to lazy to route it under the house to the lounge)

sharing connection works better IF you have a shitty router.. like me.. haha

I consider myself pretty good at creating graphics to a certain extent, and I would love to make some skins for Aurora, but I've tried to figure out how a number of different occasions and I just feel stupid when trying to use those programs, like its a foreign language or something..

Ok, it seems i somehow broke the app.  It tried to connect (said my firewall) but it never imported a coverflow...and now the app wont boot. (stopped working and must close.)  BUT i believe i CAN edit it locally.  I saw when I was trying to import from my box, that i can open files....now to fix the app somehow.  Looking for the file that holds its data, hoping its the ip or something making it crash on boot.  Ok, got the app  fixed too....and can edit locally!!! YEAH!!!

 

BUT i got an unhandled exception when trying to load a coverflow locally ;-(  But it seems to be working... :-s

do what i said, and you'll have no problem editing the xbox stuff/uploading to XB.. and also wont have a problem sys-linking this way either if you open the ports to xbox ip

for example windows 7 defaults my xbox IP to 192.168.137.xxx, but your PC will tell you what IP is waiting under the lan ipV4 settings.. just setup xbox like that IP is your routers.. and profit

 

LAN card settings(there is no gateway under here):

IP addy: 192.168.137.1

subnet is always 255.255.255.0

DNS: 192.168.137.1

 

XBOX settings:

IP: 192.168.137.XXX

subnet is ALWAYS 255.255.255.0

Gateway/DNS BOTH: 192.168.137.1

If the the card auto switches from ethernet to crossover ethernet it will work, you will have to manually set ip addresses on both devices, and the subnets will have to match, but if the card detects it, it should work, only one way to find out, and that is to try it.

if using PC to wire xbox.. either bridge connections, or like me, enable internet sharing on wifi connection, as that is how i personally do it to upload to my xbox.. as it really wont depend on your router to connect, since it is directly connected thru cat5

When I was using FSD3, my games loaded pretty slow also, switch to aurora. Every thing loads faster with aurora. Now some games just take their time, eg BO2, that game always takes like 20-30 sec before the bo2/treyarc logo show up.

yeah, FSD was bad with big databases.. but before aurora was available.. my hdd was failing.. and i tried to pin it on FSD.. when actually it was my HDD

Does no one read my guide, that lays out every thing you need to know about your jtag/rgh. I have laid all of this out for you. Every thing from installing aurora trainers, and where to get them, from the difference between the hacks, Then again with rgh1.2, and rjtop, I should probably update that.lol.  It is a very indepth list of guides, that will help you solve all of your jtag/rgh issues, and I keep a link to it at the top of the links in my sig, hoping that more people will look through it, and find their own answers. feel free to reply to that thread if there is something you dont understand, or send me a PM.

Yeah, sooo love that movie...all time favorite!!!  I was making a Boondock Saints FSD skin when FSD died...LoL. And with that pic the effects in Aurora make the smoke look cool.  

 

Hmm, isnt coverflow how the games are positioned on the screen?  I'm already using that background (and working on custom skin), but i thought the coverflow editor edited the sizes and positions of the layout.   The games are on the faces, just trying to resize and move a bit so i can see more of the pic.  If im wrong, i apologize, and you can ignore this!

 

I just posted the background JIC if someone makes this for me and they wanted to test how it'd look with the bg im getting it made for. ;-)

you might try flipping through the already there views.. as there are plenty that take out the main strip.. but yes.. i mistakenly thought you were pushing for a skin(unintentionally) .. sry   i got sidetracked by the image..

there shouldnt be a problem, unless it is a bad download.. try other programs(xexmenu/Aurora).. worst case scenario, the HDD you are using is BAD.. and thats why nothing is working.. cuz the data gets corrupted, had that happen to me.. slow loading times are also an indicator of failing hdd

Yeah, read the first link in my sig. I am not going to type it all out again, but, the basics of it is you are missing the avatar/kinect update for your kernel version. if you arent on dash 17150, I would check out the xebuild updserv option, as it will handle everything for you. As for connectX, I would not set it to use a guest account. I know it works if you dont, as I have tested it. Also, I would switch from FSD to aurora, as aurora is still getting updates and stuff.

yeah there are multiple ways to do it.. and everyone has a preference.. and discs/custom dash wouldnt matter, except all discs have the kinect data already on them, and will install if missing, but go the way of what Gavin said.. Xebuild or even Jrunner if you prefer

I think you need both, but i'm not 100% as i don't actually play these games myself :/ if it works with just CP2, that's great... if not, you need to locate CP1 aswell

you need both/ALL if there are more..  to support the content/TU you are trying to use.. as thats what they basically are, is all the fixes and stuff to keep the TU's smaller..  such as if you are using the latest TU.. you will DEF need them ALL

hello, I'm having trouble on installing a trainer for black ops 1, can anyone guide me how to successfully install it? My game is on Tu11.

Aurora trainers go into "hdd:\Aurora\Trainers\TITLEID\trainer.xex" and the only one supports TU18..

but other trainers, dont really need a location, as good ones will kick you back to dashboard and load up the game.. 

ALSO make sure the trainer is for your Media ID..

well i tried playing with the db/assets.. i didnt want to give info that would corrupt the DB all together, as adding 1 character to description completely destroyed my DB, and as ppl would bitch how come it destroyed their db's and such... and until something is produced to do it safely, back up, back up, back up.. lol..

and you dont need to restart XB.. just go to Xexmenu/FSD/Dashlaunch ftp, and pull the db, edit to your liking, put back in aurora, start aurora, changes will reflect..  

editing the asset would only be possible, if aurora was set to update DB based on the asset that are there already/download missing assets, instead of re-downloading assets all together..
