  1. Not sure about NAT restrictions from BT. Yes I have forwarded the ports and tried using different numbers ports. Have also tried putting the 360 in the dmz and also given it a static IP outside of the dhcp range. I did have similar problems a few years ago when on adsl using I think it was a belkin router but changed to a netgear one and it was perfect. At a loss really....
  2. Hi, has anyone in the UK got Link to work on BT Infinity and more specifically using a home hub 5? On my old ADSL connection I had it working perfectly but I have tried everything with this hub but I am unable to connect to 95% of sessions.... Thanks
  3. Just upgraded to BT Infinity in the UK and alas Link has stopped working. Anyone got it to work with a BT Home Hub? I previously had problems with Belkin & TP Link adsl routers (can't remember model numbers and they're long gone) but was always rock solid with Netgears both Dg834 & N300 models. Always with ports forwarded and hard wired, can't say I found upnp to actually work.
  4. Yeah I updated them all when I was trying to troubleshoot.
  5. Thought I'd update my thread with the findings I've made, I also notice a few other threads from users experiencing the same intermittent 'unable to connect to host' problem so I know I’m not alone. I’ll start with saying I have gone through all the support threads to find a resolution and have tried everything I have come across but with no success. I know it’s frustrating having people ask the same questions when 5 mins of reading they’d have an answer. I know how to set the 360 up with a static IP and forward the ports, even tried adding to the DMZ and lots of different numbered ports, disabling the firewalls but still with no success. I have set my brother’s Link up and he’s having no problems at all (he lives in a different street) so I know I’m not doing anything wrong. As part of my testing I took my 360 to his house and played with no problem at all, likewise when I took his 360 to my house he started getting the problem. I did nothing to the setups (except change the IP of the forwarded ports for the new 360) so this proved this is not a problem with FD3/Dashlaunch etc. This brought me on to hardware. We both have the same ISP through ADSL so I ruled that out leaving just the router. He is using a Netgear DG834, I’m using a Belkin (can’t remember the model). Ok I could do with a new router with better wireless so I bought a new TP-Link one. After doing the setup all again I excitedly tried Link, it worked for the first few games and then the dreaded ‘unable to connect to host’. Very disappointed! I went through and tried every option I could in the router but still no good. I asked around if anyone had a spare router and came across a BT Hub. After hacking it so I could use my ISP I tried again. Same results again. About to give up on it I then came across an old Netgear DG834 at my In-laws so I thought it was worth one more try. Low and behold it works perfectly!!! For the past week I have played loads of games without one single error J My only problem is that it has a rubbish wireless signal so I’ve used the TP-Link connected to the Netgear as the wireless access point. So the problem is a router problem which for some reason doesn’t happen on the Netgears. If anyone has any ideas I’m willing to test it as I’d rather use just one of the router.
  6. ok tried that but the debug log doesn't contain any information after the initial couple of minutes of booting even though I managed to play through link for 30 mins before the connection error happened again
  7. Okay found the debug log but the problem is when the connection problem to link happens I have to exit the game by reloading the dash to establish ftp access. This creates a new log with no mention of trying to connect. Is there a way around this so i can see whats going on? Thanks
  8. Sorry I think I've confused you, he lives in a different street with different phone line etc. Anyway he can connect first time every time whereas I'm still experiencing the same cannot connect problem and i've set them up the same. It sounds the same problem as Dude from this thread http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?/topic/803-strange-problem-with-unable-to-join/ Is there a way to see some sort of connection log to try and find out where it's falling down?
  9. Ok well I changed the ports to 1000 & 1001 and it connected fine, played for an hour no prob. Then I sorted my brother's connection to link at a seperate address and had it working no prob, returned to mine and it's giving me the error again... How frustrating :-(
  10. Ok I'll give those ports a try. The xbox is wired directly to the router and I have already put the xbox ip in the dmz so I'm thinking the ports don't really matter?
  11. Firstly I'd like to say thanks to everyone involved for their efforts. When I can get it working it is brilliant, unfortunately I have a lot of connection problems and while I recognise Link is only in Beta, I don't think others are suffering. Basically I keep getting an error saying I cannot connect to the host. The plugin test is successful, I have tried using different ports, given the xbox a different static ip, added to the routers dmz, turned off the firewall even tried on a different router I had lying around. I can enter the rooms fine and see available games but a few seconds after clicking join it gives me the error. It seems random to me as on the rare occasions I can connect I can play for ages or sometimes only for a short period. Another small problem I have which may / may not have anything to do will it, playing BO2 sometimes it gives me a TU error so when I go to manage them there are two #5 updates. I usually delete them both and redownload and it seems fine. Meant to say I have tried other games than BO2 and still get the connection error. If anyone has had similar problems or if anyone can suggest something I would be grateful! Thanks
