  1. I have one of the earlier 360s that has a 120gb drive that slots onto the side / top of the console. The Xbox itself is rgh modded. How easy would it be to open the caddy holding the 120gb drive and replace said drive with a 500gb one that currently resides in my PS3? I can see I need a Torx screwdriver to open the caddy, but do I need to prepare the drive in any way? Is there something that needs to be on there for it to work with the 360?
  2. Yeah, I want the 500gb drive as the internal drive, instead of the 120gb I currently have in it. So do I just format it to FAT32 and then copy everything off the current drive onto it via USB? Are there guides anywhere on how to do the actual swap?
  3. I've recently bought a modded 360. I've worked out how to add games to the hard drive, add DLC, copy games from disk etc. I have no idea how it is modded or what chip has been used, but it came with a front end (dashboard?) installed, I'm not sure what it's actually called, but it says it was created by Doc Emmett Brown, if rats any indication? So, two questions - one small, one big. First off, none of the games I've added myself have box art, but the ones it came with so. How do I get the box art? Secondly, I want to swap the hdd from my PS3 with the one in the 360. The one in the PS3 is a 500gb Western Digital Scorpio Blue, do you know if this is possible? When it comes to the swap, what software needs to be on the new HDD to be able to use the 360 as is? I know I can copy all the games off onto an external drive (I've worked out that I need a FAT32 formatted drive), but do I need some form of drivers on there as well? Doing the hard drive swap on the PS3 was stupidly easy, is it just as simple with the 360?
  4. I worked in games for around 11 years, before giving it up for job security and decent pay and conditions. I started by volunteering to do testing for a local games company for free, that experience got me a full time QA job with a hardware manufacturer and I went from there. I mostly did QA but spent a few years as a designer and a couple of years as a producer. I know a good few people who took the same approach. But I started 20 years ago, and things have changed a lot in that time. With the rise of the Indie Developer, I reckon your best bet would be to pick up one of the "game maker" type packages that are available and make your own game in your own time. If you want to know about the theory of games design, there are plenty of sites out there to explore. I think GameDev is still going... I will say, though, as with the music industry where not everyone can be Madonna, Katie Perry or the Rolling Stones, in the games industry, the chances of you working on a AAA million seller are slim. 90% of the time I spent in the industry involved working on games that were mediocre, at best.
