  1. Copy/pastings backups via Aurora doesn't always fail, only with some discs. The majority rip just fine, and the original rips are all 100% perfect, or as perfect as can be as passed ABGX, so no issue there. Sorry I should make clear that this is not a 0800 firmware drive I'm using connected to PC. Disc was in xbox 360 disc drive. Xbox 360 is connected to PC via network. I FTP from xbox 360 disc drive via FlashFXP to PC. You mentioned that a 'successfully' rip could still be bad, which reminds me of one of my (many) questions above. When ripping via Imgburn or XBC, if there is an issue with particular file/area of the disc, will it fail or would it skip area without warning? If it were to skip, I assume I would be able to identify bad rips as the ISO would fail ABGX correct?
  2. Speaking of Wii, that's my next project after I've finished with upgrading my 360. I really enjoy the Wii as great with a group of friends, but haven't play it as much as if I had all games on hard drive, so need to set this up. I'll have a nice 750GB that I can use to get me started once I've finished upgrading 360... that is if I can crack this new drives caddy open! Tomorrow will reveal all (hopefully!). To be honest I don't actually play anything much any more, although I do get excited thinking about gaming and enjoy tinkering with 360 as I'm doing now, but once done, when I actually sit down to game, it's all too often a 'meh' response. I've been in this game funk for close to five years now! God dam identify crisis I feel as that was who I was... a gamer! It's because I'm old I guess (in gamer years) and been playing forever, so just a case of seen it, done it I think.
  3. Nah definitely not hard drive issue and disc is 100% OK as ripped perfectly via PC using Xbox Backup Creator. This is quite an unusually situation though because I was ripping from directly from 360's disc drive to PC and it was not just FlashFXP that failed to pick up on file size discrepancy. The issue ultimately appears to be with weak 360 disc drive. As described above when transferring via Aurora copy/paste, Aurora will report failing, but the same cannot be said for FTP as I assumed it would, and therefore when it didn't give any warnings I wrongly concluded that rip was successfully when in fact it wasn't. I've never experienced this before, because like you, FlashFXP has always warned of errors from the usually hard drive to hard drive transfer. Just something about ripping from 360 disc drive (that's struggling) over network to a PC that bamboozles FTP programs.
  4. Thanks felida, and I'm already big fan of ISO2GOD which I use exclusively for my games, but I was referring to xbox360 iso extract program. On the subject of padding though, what exactly is it and why is it ever used in the first place? And if most games can do without it, why do certain games need it in order to work?
  5. Thanks man, I thought that might be the case (honestly!) . Looks like I'm just going to have to crack, I mean gently open the caddy and install internally. For that process I think I will have a good sleep first and come back to it tomorrow. This is the new style Seagate Expansion Portable (2015 model), and while I've read it's still possible to open, it's more difficult than previous model. Just looking at mine I can see why as the seems are very tightly joined together. With old model from videos I've seen it was possible to open it with a credit card, but may need some sort of thinner plastic tool to open this new one without causing cosmetic damage to case. Sooo once I've installed internally, will I need to run the backwards compatible fix OR can I just transfer everything from old drive to new. Old drive already have backwards compatible, so is this something that can be transfer (is it the HddX folder)? What about getting avatars back? Transferable or will I need to install systemupdate again? Another thing, as this new drive has to be installed internally in order to format as system drive, I will no longer be able to hook up old drive, so can I just hook up old drive to PC and FTP? It's FAT32 right, so PC isn't going to try formatting just to recognize it? On a general knowledge note, what are HddX, SysExt and System folders please?
  6. Ok the issue is that this new 2TB drive isn't going to be an additional drive. It's going to be my one and only drive installed internally, and therefore needs to be formatted as 'System Drive', however formatting this way is limited to 32GB. I can confirm if both drives are attached, I can format this new drive as an additional drive to full capacity, but as I'm going to be installing this internally it needs to be 'System Drive' (so that it includes SysExt, System folders I assume) so how can I format it according and get passed the 32GB limit please? I'm sure a facepalm is in order, but can't get my tiny brain around this, and doesn't help I am dead tired. This means I should stop before I end up poking my eye out with a hard drive, but stopping now is too much of a sensible idea.
  7. Hello This isn't a biggy, but I am curious why this forum requires two spaces between paragraphs, so that it correctly displays paragraphs space when post goes live? I'm forever forgetting and so always have to edit my post again straight after to make them readable. Thank you EDIT: I even forgot to add extra space to this very post!
  8. Ok so bite the bullet and purchase the Seagate Expansion 2TB Portable 2.5" (model: SRD0NF1) today, but having issues straight away. Bet you could see that coming! First off, before I open the caddy to remove HDD and install internally, I want to make sure it work with the 360. I've removed my 360 main drive for this experiment and connected Seagate vis USB, but it will only format to 32GB. I understand this was a limitation in the past with stock 360's, but even stocks with latest dash can handle up to 2TB now, so what do I need to do in order to format to full 2TB capacity please? Furthermore after I formatted to 32GB I got this horrible little message... I'm hoping this issue will disappear once installed internally, but need to make sure it does actually work before opening case as likely won't be able to take it back to shop after that. Is there any difference between the back USB port vs the front? This is my first ever portable drive and I was surprised to find it doesn't require separate power. Once I get this formatted to full capacity, I'm still a little unclear with regards to getting avatars and xbox backwards compatibility working again. felida suggests it's just a simple case of running xexmenu live and transferring everything, but the xbox backwards compatibility is more than just files isn't it, as it involves a partition fix as described here, so would I not have to do this first? With the backwards compatible issue aside, when I'm in a position to transfer contents from old to new drive, with both old (internal) and new drive (USB) hooked up to 360, can I simply use xexmenu live to transfer everything from old to new, OR would it be advisable to FTP old drive contents to PC, replace old with new drive internally and FTP back that way? OR can I hook my old drive up to PC and FTP contents to new drive that way? Are 360 formatted drives standard FAT32, so PC can recognize and see all folders? Sorry if I've forgotten some basics here as I do recall when I upgraded from stock to 750GB it was very straight forward, but that didn't involve a god awful portable drive.
  9. Thanks guys. ScorpNZ can I nudge you towards this post please, as I have a related imgburn question there (post 6), and don't want to double post here. I just checked out XBOX360 Iso extractor, pretty cool, although as far as I can see it doesn't have the ability to remove padding (does it?), although could be perfect for obaidshera's needs.
  10. Thanks Swizzy. I think the issue many just be with my 360 drive being picky with reading certain discs. Could the ERROR_CRC be related to reading issues? It's a Jasper console so pretty old and while drive hasn't had much use, lasers will always degrade over time resulting in reading issues I guess. Does anyone know, when ripping via Imgburn or XBC, if there is an issue with particular file/area of the disc, will it fail or would it skip area without warning? I found my direct FTP from 360 disc drive to PC as explained above wasn't solution as it first appeared to be. On closer inspection I found that while all the files transferred 'successfully' with no errors reported, some of those files had not transferred in full, ie incomplete file size. I was surprised at this as I thought FTP program would highlight such an error, but I'm tried several different ones including FlashFXP, Filezilla and CuteFTP and none of them picked up on errors, but sure enough the same files failed to transfer in full. I only noticed this after ripping quite a few games this way, so will need to start over using Imgburn or XBE, therefore want to be sure that if there is an issue with the disc Imgburn/XBC will notify, and not just skip problems as experienced with FTP?
  11. Obaidshera, as said not painful at all if you just rip game via Imgburn, then batch convert via ISO2GOD. Agreed does take time, but once you processing batch via ISO2GOD, no further input needed from you. If you set up FTP within ISO2GOD, once batch has finished, all your games will be ready for you on 360 to scan into Aurora database. scorpNZ great idea with the second instance of Imgburn, but have you tried more than this, say FIVE instances/drives? Possible issues? I'm thinking could be a bottle neck for HDD with ripping all five to single hard drive, so maybe split 3 rips to one hard drive and 2 rips to second hard drive. I'm guessing buffer status will let me know if asking too much. Do you recommend using Imgburn or XBC, and if you prefer one over the other, any particular reason?
  12. Thanks for confirming my thoughts on this. I hear ya with regards to backing up in case of failed hard drives, and this is what I've done with ISO's until now. ISO's backup on PC and then of course GOD's on 360, but now I think I will simply keep GOD's as backup on PC instead of keeping ISO, and this will save a lot of space. I'm basically trying not to expand number of drives within in PC as all too easy to fill them with junk, so getting rid of my ISO's will give me some much needed space.
  13. Hi felida. As mentioned, Xbox Live is to be taken completely out of the equation because I never go on live anyway, so apart from the odd games that do not work well with GOD, is there any other reason in keeping ISO? I understand that padded versions are not require as I've always removed padded where possible, so the purpose here is to understand the con's if any (apart from live) of getting rid of my ISO's and just keep games in GOD format. With a GOD I could still... 1. Convert back to ISO for burning. 2. Extract that ISO for whatever reason (modding xex - trainer/hack etc). The only thing I can think of that would no longer be possible, would be to create an ISO again to pass ABGX, which is fine as no intention of going on Live. Live for Xbox 360 won't be around much longer anyway, so unless I'm missing something, there will soon be no need for Live safe backups, and therefore might as well get rid ISO's, use GOD and save loads of space.
  14. Thank you, I'll certainly give this a try next time.
  15. Hello I'm looking at ways to cut down amount of space my 360 games take up. Currently I keep full ISO on PC and their equivalent GOD (full padding removed) format on 360 internal HDD. As I don't go on Live, I'm thinking of getting rid of my ISO's and just keeping GOD format. Apart from Live aspect and baring in mind some games don't work with full padding removed, with those few exceptions, is there any other reason to keep full size ISO's please? I like the idea of keeping just GOD's as this will save a hell of a lot of space, but want to be sure I haven't missed something before I go getting rid of my ISO's. Thank you
  16. Thanks felida, and sorry I must have been editing my post as you posted, so it's changed a bit. I hear ya with regards to the speed, which I personally have no issue with. It seems the op however was going around the houses a bit, so my ISO2GOD method should speed things up for him.
  17. I too am looking for best way to rip via PC. Within Xbox Backup Creator instead of extracting via Image Browser, why not use the 'Read' option to extract and create ISO from backup disc? I just gave this a try and worked well with full rip taking 11 mins. Also tested via Imgburn and took exactly the same time (11 mins). You can use ISO2GO with FTP enabled to automatically transfer to your 360. You can also batch process via ISO2GOD, so just create ISO's with XBC or Imgburn, create batch in ISO2GO, sit back and relax. Swizzy, when using the 'Read' option within Xbox Backup Creator, Baring in mind I'm using a backup, I'm only using standard DVD drive (non 0800), so not one of the drives listed under Options > Drive Specific. Does this matter at all? If I select DVD-ROM, then the option to 'Set Speed' disappears. I assume it remains at default 12x? The 'Complete Backup' option is also greyed out. Is this a problem, baring in mind again this is a backup so a 0800 drive shouldn't be required should it? Will the 'Current Partition' suffice?
  18. Can't you just rename the game within Aurora? No need for SQLite3 editor unless I'm missing something. For multi discs games, I checked the "Subtitle" feature like Swizzy said to identify, then simply amended title within Aurora to included " Disc 1", "Disc 2" for each multi disc game.
  19. Thanks for your reply. Can you confirm please how you exit out of the cover flow screen, because as far as I can see the cover flow screen is the main screen is it not? Or do you mean exit out of the game options screen? I've never been able to get missing cover by refresh, and for me at least this options only makes things worst and it duplicates the screenshots. One solution I have found is to continue to use the 'Get missing assess' option. Takes ages, but many 100's of button presses later, it gets most of the covers, but would be great if this could be fixed so first initial scan gets all covers (or most at least).
  20. Hi Swizzy. As mentioned in first post, all to do with price as external is bizarrely a lot cheaper (up to 30%) over it's identical internal counterpart. Also would prefer SATA connect for max speed. Perhaps not likely to noticed much speed difference SATA vs USB, but prefer neat internal install and one less power plug and caddy taking up space if install internally. Plus of course the caddy will be a bonus to use elsewhere, so as external is 30% cheaper, this is the preferred choice. I understand regarding 360 being SATA 2, but SATA 3 by design is backwards compatible is it not, with the only difference if course being that you wont' be getting the SATA 3 speeds obvious, but as scorpNZ has discovered problems do occur. Could just be drive failure as felida mentioned, or user error, but as I've read so much conflicting info, I'm trying to conclude that the drive I wish to purchase will actually work so as not to waste money. Would be great to hear from those who are running a 2TB hard drive please, in particular Seagate Expansion 2TB Portable 2.5" (STBX2000401). Thank you
  21. Hi thexnightmare. Here's what I did for Forza 4. Install disc 1 as normal (I installed via ISO2GOD). Then for disc 2... 1. Use exiso or 360mpGui to extract ISO 2. Copy the 0000000000000000 contents to 360 hard drive, ie in this case… HDD1\content\0000000000000000\4D530910\00000002 3. Enjoy
  22. Thanks guys. Felida I know what you mean, a hard drive is a hard drive, whether in a caddy or not, however while generally true, getting certain drives it to work with Xbox 360 doesn't appear to be as straight forward as scorpNZ has discovered. Plus as mentioned I have read that some manufacturers have started messing with the firmware of these external drives so that they only work within the caddy it came with. Overthinking maybe, but just don't want to buy and be stuck with a drive that doesn't work with 360. ConnectX is great thank you. Only recently set this up and pleasantly surprised at just how well it works. However, being so used to super quick loading times from internal, some games seem like they take an age to load, with a few games being unplayable. Driver SF being good example which takes 5 mins to load title, 5 mins to load to menu, 5 mins...well you get the picture. I'm looking therefore to upgrade internal and run everything from there again. scorpNZ I'm already aware of your post thank you, but you didn't mentioned in your post the exact model you have? Is it STBX2000401 and did you get it working? If not what drive did you get in the end? As said I've searched this subject to death, but everyone seems to have different results, so just trying to get confirmation what 2TB actually works, in particular if the Seagate Expansion 2TB Portable 2.5" (STBX2000401) works? Can anyone one who actually has this drive confirm if it works please? I have a jasper too, but didn't think this would come in to the equation as to if a HDD would work or not?
  23. Hello I apologize in advance if this has been covered already, which I'm sure it has, but after hours of googling I still cannot answer my question with any degree of certainty due to conflicting info. So currently I have a 750GB internal on Jtag, and I'm looking to upgrade to 2TB. I've done a lot of reading on this subject, but still cannot conclude IF certain external 2.5" HDD can be removed from caddy and installed to 360 without issue? Some report that it works just fine, others report issues. Ideally I would just purchase an internal HDD and drop that into my 360, but considering the externals are bizarrely so much cheaper, I'd much rather purchase one of those and extract from caddy. To me a hard drive is a hard drive, and as long as you don't try using higher that 2TB with FAT, it should work, so can only imagine user error when installing these. I just want to double check however also read that manufacturers have started messing with the firmware of these external drives so that they only work within the caddy it came with. 1. It seems the Seagate Expansion 2TB Portable 2.5" (STBX2000401) is very popular, although some report issues. Are there other drives I should consider (model numbers please) that are confirmed working with 360? To be honest not to keen on Seagates due to high fail rates I've experienced over the years, although price of this model coupled with good reviews is tempting. 2. I installed my current 750GB many moons ago, so completely forgot process. I'm sure I recall having to do something with my profile with regards to 'signing' or something when moving from one HDD to another. I've googled and found a number of VERY old guides, but these only relate to upgrading from stock MS drive. I'm wondering then if upgrading from non-stock to non-stock will be a little more straight forward and if there is a guide I can follow please? From what I've read it's just a simply case of dropping new hard drives into 360, formatting and FTP'ing everything across, or is there more too it with regards to profile signing as mentioned, and getting avatars and backwards compatibility back working again? 3. As this will be 2TB, will I be able to format via 360 to get the full capacity, or will I need to format via PC? Again conflicting info from what I've read so far. 4. Is Aurora now able to mount ISO's? If this is not possible, why do some people partition there 2TB drives to included an NTFS partition as seen here 5. Once the new hard drive is installed to 360, how to actually FTP as original dash of course does not have FTP capabilities? I assume I need to run xexmenu via USB for FTP capabilities, OR could I simply hook up to PC and transfer that way? I'm sure I've overthinking this, but just want to be sure. Better safe than to be crying like a baby who's dropped their dummy and lost their mummy. Thank you.
  24. Hi Swizzy! Good to hear from you. As mentioned when you delete a ConnectX games directly from Aurora, it deletes it completely, so not only from 360, but also from PC. I therefore assumed it has read/write privileges, so thought it would also be possible to rip game directly to PC? I discovered I can press and hold X while pressing down, but when there are hundreds of files this can still take a while. It resorts to frantic button pressing like I was playing track & field again! Wondered then if it's possible to 'select all'? If not perhaps a suggestion for future release, OR even just being able to hold down button so that it automatically scrolls down. By ripping game directly from 360 disc drive via FTP to PC, I'm able to rip the very games that failed via Aurora copy/paste method. No errors and all files transferred first time which confirms there is no issue with the disc or drive. This method however is painfully slow with transfer speeds only topping 3Mb/s. It's much quicker to rip to 360's internal HDD and then FTP at full speed from there, that is for those games that rip successfully. Here's a log as requested showing end of Aurora 'Reading titles' from boot, me selecting files to copy from disc, pasting to HDD and subsequently the failing... Any ideas what the issue could be please? Is it a bug? As said this same disc FTP just find directly from 360 disc drive to PC, as is the case with all others that failed via copy/paste method, so surely can't be a disc issue can it?
