Installing games with long filenames

Recommended Posts

I have the european retail version of The Force Unleashed - Ultimate Sith Edition and am trying to install it from the original dvd's on a rgh2 system running FSD r775 with an upgraded 1.5Tb drive.

I've installed all my other retail games successfully and they have worked fine for the past 2-3 years... however, this one seems to have files on the disc that have filenames (much!) longer than that allowed by the FATX filesystem (42 characters?) on the internal drive. If I use FSD ftp server to copy directly to my PC all the files are transferred fine - so it's not a defect with the dvd.

Is there any solution to this? Or do I, for example, need to install this game to a FAT32 device instead and get FSD to scan for games on that as well (I'm contemplating a 32gb USB stick in the back of the console *just* for this one game)?

You can install the game in NXE (exit out of FSD and install it there) then it'll work :)
