  1. depends on your dashlaunch settings,

for a quick fix, make a folder called $ystemupdate and also a folder called $$ystemupdate. copy the files into them and then try to launch a game etc. or try plugging the USB key into the machine when your on the "stock" metro dashboard.

reading through your post you have $$ystemUpdate and $Systemupdate, you need to remove the "S" from the folder name.

have a check of your dashlaunch settings.

  2. get your self a "brass sponge" By avoiding the thermal shock of touching a damp sponge, it stops the iron from losing it's temps when soldering important joints.

Make sure you get your self some "flux" and also an abrasive fiber glass pen.

Clean the joints and the connections and as Swizzy says get lots of practice in on old mother boards and cards etc. anything electrical.

To remove solder, get as Swizzy says a Solder Sucker, or some Solder braid. then practice on boards removing solder from connections or headers.

    practice makes perfect :)

  3. Back to the beginning...All verification steps succeed, exept for the broadcast and data port. I tried everything which came to my mind - static ip, wired/wireless connection, changed several router settings, nothing :( My question is: could it be a problem, that my data and broadcast port are the ones that were in the tutorials? 3072-3071 By the way, it there really no way to add a plugin/feature that does these things automatically? For the noobs' sake as me :D

If you've gave your xbox a static IP address, you could add it to your DMZ zone in your router, if your not familiar with opening ports etc. on your router then adding the IP address of the machine to the DMZ zone will open it all up....

  4. Well i think i might have a play with this tonight, I've made a new folder via FTP and I'm gonna point my dashlaunch at it, kinda great that there's a new dash out and thanks to all of the people behind it to make it work, much appreciated. really goes beyond words the effort and the time that you all put into it :)

Think i'll sip a rum and coke and have a bit of a play with it, anything that I need to know about before I do, I know it's "beta" so bugs can be expected...

  5. you can't really brick it mate your not writing the nand or anything like that, title update, urm, maybe have a look at "gadabama" for managing the game(s) titles etc. other than that I can't think of any other way at the minute...maybe some one else can, but your not going to brick it.... :)

  6. gadabama is quite good for sorting covers etc. out, it's a tool that you can copy over your FSD folder over to a hard drive etc. and then sort covers and games. (there's an old way if you enable something in launch.ini but can't quite remember the old way now...)

Do a fresh install, or maybe enable beta updates on that old version and see if it'll pick up the "updates" automatically for FSD.

    nearly there :)

  7. I have a tunnel set up on my router, so it means that where ever i am using putty i can connect to my "home network" and that way where ever i am if the browser is set up correctly and the tunnel running then it's just like being at home in front of all my devices. so away from home, put a local ip address in my browser i can then connect to that device.

If you can't set a tunnel up on your router then you could set it up on your local machine :) and then get to your devices on the local LAN via the SSL

.........So your wanting to leave your xbox 360 running as an FTP server for your local lan and also when your away from home?

Sounds like a complicated way to have an FTP server running, there's loads of free programs for creating an FTP server, or grab your self a decent router with a USB slot and create and FTP server that way, then your home computer doesn't even need to be on or in your case your 360.

  8. good answer Swizzy bud :)

Setting up a "tunnel" using "putty" or if he has a capable router can create one that way, or he could just stick teamviewer on his server I guess.

Why would you want to access the console away from home any way?

  9. swizzy please give a link , where you're explaining how to update NAND  via xeBuild GUI

You could use the auto updater as posted in the very first page of this thread.

or....if you want to do it the old way. download swizzy's nand reader and read your nand (if you haven't already got it, which you should have as a matter of course.!) and then use xebuild GUI you can then load your nand in there and grab your CPU key and create your self a new updated nand. and flash that back to your machine.

Download xeBuild (version has dash 16747) then from there you can build your image, it's really straight forward, it will build an image for you that you can then put on a formatted FAT32 usb key. (you would put this file on the root of the USB key and then power your machine on with the eject and it should then update xell)

when you open the program, load your source file (your nand) then a little further down you load your CPU key... you should then see all green "ticks" along the bottom of xebuild... if you don't see all green ticks then don't proceed and report back.

Generate your image, this will make a file called "updflash.bin" copy this to a fresh formatted usb FAT32 key, stick it in your xbox and power it on with "eject" let it update....."

You would then download the system update 16747 not from m$ as there's a newer dash out but 16747 is the latest one that xebuild supports and that's the one you've just created an image with.

  10. Xbox One owners are being warned about an internet prank message that could wreck their console.

The prank message, originated on the 4Chan website, falsely claims to enable the new console to play games made for its predecessor - the XBox 360.

The Xbox One cannot play those older games and those following the bogus advice could "brick" their console, rendering it inoperable.

Microsoft issued a warning about the prank via social media site Twitter.

    Fake advert
"To be clear there is no way to make your Xbox One backwards compatible and performing steps to attempt this could make your console inoperable," wrote Larry Hryb, director of programming for Microsoft's Xbox Live network in a tweet.

The prank originated on a forum on 4Chan - a humour and discussion site known for playing tricks and pranks on the naive and gullible.

A message posted to one of its forums adapted a series of button presses, menu choices and ID details required to turn an Xbox One into a device that can be used by developers who need to test games for the console.

This sequence was independently discovered earlier in December and shared via a YouTube video.

Unfortunately, anyone following this advice who was not an actual Xbox game developer and who did not have a real ID would put their console into an endless start-up loop. Worse, there is no way to undo the damage once the console has been "bricked".

It is not clear how many people have followed the fake advice but a message crafted to look like it was issued by Microsoft and which listed the instructions was widely shared on games forums and social media networks.

Some tech news sites excerpted messages posted to the original thread on 4Chan, which suggest several people have destroyed their console this way. In the UK the console costs about £429.

The discussion thread on 4Chan where the advice originated has now been deleted.

The Xbox One advice is just one of the latest technologically-themed pranks to emerge from 4Chan. In September, the site was the source of a fake advert purporting to come from Apple, which claimed that iPhones updated to iOS 7 would become waterproof. <<< lol.... ;)

What ya think? M$ way to scare people are true?

  11. Suppose you could, your best of using dash launch to edit your .ini file (unless you know what to do) that way once you've configured dash launch it'll then ask you if you want to save it (saving the launch.ini to your HDD) you could just leave that folder the way it is, the old freestyle and just create a new one and call it freestyle1, copy the new FSD over to that and then edit the launch.ini to point to the new one or use dash launch to do it.

if you get used to using FTP and using dashlaunch it makes things a lot easier for you. ;)

  12. if it's freshly formatted usb stick FAT32 and you have the names in the correct format, then try booting the box maybe with the key in and going straight to stock (metro) dashboard rather than FSD and then if that doesn't work, then boot the machine and then go to stock and then insert the USB key etc. it'll take eventually.

  13. if you know how to use  FTP then you half way there, the only reason that you need to run FSD or xex menu is to enable the machine to be able to open an IP address up so you can FTP in.

So when FSD is running then FTP in, create a new folder called FSD775 or something, then copy the new FSD via FTP to the new folder.

You will have dashlaunch/installer on there somewhere, it would have been installed at some point, it's very "rare" that a machine has not had it installed and it would be stupid not too as it stops updates etc. and other configurations for the machine.

if not then you can create your self a "installer/dashlaunch" folder, the same the new FSD and copy installer/dashlaunch across to it, then you'll be able to run it from FSD, if you have the scan path to scan it'll be under homebrew in the FSD menu.

How does your machine "boot" at the minute, if it's straight into FSD then that's because installer/dashlaunch has been configured to run it ;)

you should put xex menu on, it's way easy and you would find xex menu (once installed) on the stock dashboard under "games" and also in FSD
