  1. If you're using Internet Connection Sharing to connect your xbox to your network via the laptop, then it should pick up an IP address automatically (if DHCP is enabled on the router). If you decide to statically set the IP Adress you need to be on the same subnet as the router. So if your router is 192.168.1.1, then your laptop and xbox needs to be something like 192.168.1.X.

It's always best policy to have the latest software on your RGH/JTAG (especially if you plan on using link). Dashlaunch 3.11 and FSD 3 v775 are the latest.

  2. I know it would be bad to put a pc in your DMZ. But what would be the danger of putting an xbox on the DMZ? It's not like there's any security exploits for the xbox 360 console. Are there?

  3. So let me get this straight. The topology of your network goes:   Internet ===> modem/router ===> xbox ? And your xbox is connecting via the wireless and has an IP config of 192.168.1.10? if all that is correct try rebooting the router and the xbox and trying again. If all that doesns't work, then I'm at a loss of words. Only other thing I could recommend is doing a factory reset on the router and recocnfiguring it, to work with the xbox.

  4. Yeah all you have to change is the default path where it says "Default = usb:Freestyledefault.xex" to "Default = usb:Freestyle1default.xex" or whatever you changed the name of the new freestyle folder to (in this case I used Freestyle1).

  5. Get the latest FSD files here:

This thread discusses how to do a clean install:

I recommend just renaming the freestyle folder to something like "Freestyle 1", FTP it over to the xbox's hard-drive and then change the configuration in dashlaunch. Now that I think about it you should update to dashlaunch 3.11 while you're at it, Here's the link:

  6. Get the source code and do it yourself? As far as I know they stopped developing connectx... The best way to run games is off an internal HDD. Even when I had Connectx working on FSD2, it was erratic for allot of games.

  7. I noticed that sometimes when I apply a different skin, it gets tied to the user I applied it with. So for example, If I applied a skin logged in as "john" then rebooted the xbox, the user "john" wouldn't be logged in anymore, so the skin wouldn't start up. I guess what I'm trying to say is to apply the skin while you're not logged in. But if you have the xbox auto-login for you on startup, then apply the skin with that user. I hope that wasn't too confusing for ya.

  8. Don't know much about matrix products (usually use Team Xecuter). Did you try flashing back the original nand image and see if the problem still occurs? Maybe it's early signs of a RROD?

  9. There's also a way to update over your network using J-runner. You need to launch updserv in the dashlaunch folder though. I've always used the previous tutorials. Has anyone (successfully) updated using the updserv/jrunner method?
