  1. What are you using to build your image with, and how are you applying the new image?

Depending on your dashlaunch settings, easiest way to get to NXE from FSD (for me) is to press the guide button, and scroll over to system settings. You could always change your dashlaunch ini if system settings aren't displayed in your hud.

If NXe isn't working, you must have bad blocks being remapped incorrectly, or not even being identified. More likely Newbie error in how to get to NXE in my opinion, but not after rereading your post. I'd definitely go with bad blocks. Do you have a hardware method of dumping your nand? If you have a backup of your nand, from the very first time the machine was modded, you could identify the blocks with it, but it'ld only help with old ones. If it's been a while it's almost a certainty you'ld have those plus more by now. Flash memory always gets bad blocks with time.

  2. Freestyle 1.2 I'd say it's very safe to assume he's a Jtag and not a RGH. Don't think they were around when 1.2 was.

You would need to know which type of wiring though.

Either open your console, and look where the wires on your jtag are connected to, (almost every solder junction on the 360 board has identifying marks on it.) or take a picture for us. (This would probably be a pita for ya)

...or use an app like AutoGG which should be able to identify the current patches and pass em on to a new image. Think it displays said patches too, so you'ld know what the heack you have in the future.

http://www.forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?showtopic=742959 ---- old tutorial but will probably still work out. I haven't seen any postings about an updated autogg, so I'm going to assume it's one of the many apps that are updating themselves now a days. I know it'll get you as far as a 16203 kernel. At the least you'll be able to get what you need to update to whatever the latest kernel is, with xebuild or whatever app tickles your pickle.

  3. Can I ask, how is it that people would normally launch FSD? I know that you can set it to launch FSD on start up, but if you hadn't chosen that option how would you launch it manually?

We do it with an app called Dashlaunch. Otherwise you're forced to use dashes like xexmenu to browse the box for the xex. Don't think quickboot worked for fsd. And a god wouldn't.

  4. uhh make sure there aren't any spaces in your link gamertAg (xbox gamertag doesn't matter)

if you can't log into jqe via pc, then make a new account. If you can....

check your dashlaunch settings perhaps you didn't load/copy over the old ini.

otherwise I'm to drunk to help anyone tonight. and have to be working in 5 hours oh joy.

navigate your web browser to link.jqe360.com

on the left hand side there is a button that says forgot password. English="forgot password". On the right side of the screen type in your email address. Check your email and use that new password. If that fails just make a new account. I doubt they're banning based on IP addresses.

I just did the above, I received an error that said I wasn't allowed to login too, after changing my password. But with a refresh of the browser it worked. ¿

Welcome to the world of Google translate, despite growing up in Cali I can't read/write Spanish. But I know how to purchase sex, drugs, and food. That was always enough for me. :)

  6. A new image with one of the xexbuilds will for sure. I think the only way you'll get it back from an official update, is by updating the dash with a MS update, which you DO NOT want to do. Fairly certain it's not replaced when you update only the avatar crap.

  7. You have to register for a new key with http://developer.worldweatheronline.com/member/register , new f3 doesn't seem to accept the old keys, or mine was revoked for some strange reason. I got a new key, and the weather is working again.

    Try updating your dashlaunch

    http://www.realmodscene.com/index.php?app=core&module=attach&section=attach&attach_id=673

For if it's not booting to f3 anymore, you are either not running dashlaunch or the ini isn't set to the new location. (whenever I install a new f3, I do so by booting to NXE, running xexmenu from a god container, deleting the old freestyle off and copying over the new one with the same file names etc... so I don't have to change my dashlaunch ini)

  8. If the old keys are still working, now I'm curious as to why my weather stopped working after the new dash. I'm just now getting off my rear to fix it. :) Well my weather is up with my new key. So I guess the world can have my old key. Keep in mind more than three people using the same key, turning their boxes on in the same second and the key will probably be revoked.

    Enjoy it while it lasts.

  9. At least until the controller shorts and your forced to take it apart, to salvage the drive. I use to stick to wd ebooks and passports because they were always on sale for super cheap at my local store. ($99 USD most I've ever paid all 1.5tb+ ) Out of the 9 external drives I've purchased over the years, only 2 still attach through their original equipment. And only 1 is still in it's case. Switched to a dual docking bay a while ago. Now I buy "externals" for even less, as I just purchase a bare drive. Little stickers on the drives, tell me which drive has what I'm looking for. :) I will give em, every single one of those WD drives is still alive n kicking despite some of em being used as beer coasters for awhile.

I don't use externals with my boxes. Anyways, that passport has a 2.5" in it, meaning save yourself the trouble, take it apart now, and swap it with the hd in your RE box. You'll probably want to after you notice they don't have the same red hue. (I'm a pessimist/troll. Honestly have no idea to it's color)

  10. I think what you're after is... (Under blue bar after entering hud/guide display)

    Xbox 360 Dashboard TID:FFFE07d1, MID:00000000, VER:2.0.16537.0, DISC:1, TU:16537

or maybe (depending on your skin, this would be default)

    Initializing loading engine...

    Loading Modules....

    Finalizing skin enviroment...

    Welcome to F3...

  11. 16203 kernel, latest f3 rev, dl 3.07 Jtag Jasper BB (256)

moved installer from thumb to internal hd, installed and rebooted no prob.

    Or so I thought...

    NXE dash :(

Xexmenu via GOD, to f3, Made new dash (whatever it is) flashed to console via console side nandflasher (probably VERY old version, that has never failed me.)

    Everything flashed fine. reboot.

Xexmenu via GOD, navigated to dl installer, freeze.

newer version xexmenu via disk, navigated to dl installer, freeze

xexmenu via disk, navigated to flash drive with a new copy of 3.08 installer, freeze

xexmenu via disk, to f3, deleted dl folder from hd, copied from thumb, ran, installed.

Dashlaunch never loaded on it's own after it's first successful install. One recurring theme I'm seeing.... Jasper

But it seems to be doing it now.... therefore GREAT job (sincerity, not sarcasm) and thank you.

  12. Mandatory? Will be mandatory eventually? Will those of use with an older key size still work in the next release, or should I just get off my ass and do it now? As far as I'm concerned nothing is presently broken on my box, therefore no action needed. I choose to wait until I have to.

  13. Rewire it over to the transistor method, if it isn't already.

If the links aren't good for blackaddr's smc tool, I know I have it on at least one of my stations. May have finally been upped to xbins by now too.

PS- I can't speak for others, but for me, it'd be helpful to share with us, which point you're wishing to move. 99.9% of the alternate points, aren't due to "stability", but people's lack of courage/skill when it came to soldering some points. (I guess repairing the damage they caused, too)

  14. As someone up there said, .usa is not correct. I doubt they'll play with that file suffix. Could just be your OS is hiding the file extensions from you. (it's a setting in folder options - I think. Google how to unhide them, if you can't find it.) Otherwise you'll need to rename each file to have a .n64 suffix, and ignore the warning popups, as long as you don't attempt to open them with a wrong app on the pc, they'll play on the 360. On the bright side, all your file names look good. Be glad you don't have to rename those, that one SUCKED and pissed me off. 2 days wasted......

Yes 4.4gb sounds about right. My n64 collection was around 10gb, but it included all regions not just the corrupt states of america.

Only problem I foresee with what you grabbed... You grabbed the n64 emulator for the original xbox, not the 360. The roms themselves will more than likely work still on the 360. (Assuming they weren't altered in some manner for the surreal emulator) the emu you want is called mupen64-360, or something similar. And it's still in beta I believe, but operational for many games)

Out of curiosity did you have to send the console back to get reflashed or something? I find it peculiar a person that doesn't have their box yet, has so many screenshots of alternate skins. ;)

To put the pictures in xbox format on the flash drive:

-First you need a flash drive configured as Xbox storage( in the console you can do this on the last My Xbox menu).

-In the xbox, find the memory menu and find kinect adventures files

-Move all kinect adventures content(the upper folder with "A" icon) to your flash drive, (then I recommend to move back to your xbox your "progress/savegame file" from between the pictures).

Now in your PC, transform them in common JPG image files:

-Now plug the flash drive on your PC and use "xtaf explorer"(google it) to find the kinect adventure files.

-Just extract them all to some folder of your PC and use the KAEXTRACT on them to extract / convert them in sinple JPG that you can print, share, publish, store.

  16. Think your best bet would be a clean install. To put xexmenu on, it;s as simple as placing it on a flash drive and moving it over to the consoles hard drive. You could create a quickboot for it, to launch from NXE. (Since I'm recommending you to delete all of your Freestyle Dashs off.) But it'd probably be less of a headache for you, to just burn it to an iso. Or simply change the dashlaunch options to point to it, after you add it to the console. You'll need to be in Xexmenu in order to delete off fsd properly. You can find xexmenu in/on Xbins. If Xbins is an issue for you, google "groundzero xbins download"

Regarding your multiple freestyle and fsd folders, you have more than one version of fsd on the hard drive. Another reason to just delete em all and new install with the newest. :) Looky what I googled... http://spiffy360.com/forum/thread-8.html

You lost/confused me with your gamepaths question. SysExt: and Flash, have no business being involved with gamepaths. Somewhere in FSD settings there is an option to hide em, I recommend you do this. Nothing should be getting placed in this area, therefore no need to scan it. Aside from a custom boot animation, I can't recall a single tutorial that has ever had people playing in there. Playing around in this area, will inevitably result in you or someone else having to recover the console with a backup image.
