  1. The question that ends up getting in our heads if Aurora is still beta that problems or malfunctions can occur because FSD was left behind and everything worked and then things stopped working and everyone was forced to migrate to the Aurora that still It's in beta and of course it's wonderful, but not everything works

    I understand  :ninja:

just because its called beta doesnt mean it isnt working correctly. I don't know how you use FSD, but it was far from "everything worked". It has less features and more bugs than Aurora does. And nobody was forced to use Aurora, you are free to use FSD if you want.

  2. I love the new cover browser added in 0.6b! Would it be possible to make a skin modification to show cover previews full-size, and scrolling left/right, similar to how they are presented in Unity? They are currently a little too small to make out on my TV.

A shortcut button or combo to get directly to the cover browser from the game list would be a nice addition as well, if possible.

The preview might be possible, i can put it on the list to look at. Scrolling left / right probably a no, shortcut combo definitely not.

  3. I am using the same connectx.xex in both Backup Managers. Or did you mean something different?

Playing one disc games is working fine. Only with Multi-Disc games (GOD Container) disc swapping isn't working.

If i remember it correctly we discussed the same problem over a year ago with aurora 0.5b. And i think other people did say Disc Swapping was working in Folder Format but not with GOD Container. And i would like to keep the GOD Format to reduce number of files. Game loading is a bit faster then.

I've confirmed this issue, it will be fixed for 0.7b

  4. Speaking of bugs, Did the connectX bug ever get fixed, where if you were trying to play the same game at the same time on multiple xboxes it wouldnt work? I recall reading a thread about that, and that Mattie said it would be fixed in 0.6b, but since I dont have a second xbox that is modded, I didnt test it. I didnt see that in the changelog either.

its fixed. it was this one:

(Fixed) Use CreateFile with FILE_SHARE_READ when launching a xex or container #782

What Swizzy means is, do you boot to freestyle or aurora when you turn on your xbox.

If freestyle is booted first, plugin settings could be messed up for aurora.

  5. downloaded and made it from scratch i prefer it to be from scratch not update via updater and everything works fine

my only issue is that i dunn have any info in any game , for example when i open a game then hit the guide button it should show which TU is enabled , Media id , Title id and ofcourse arurora word above the guide menu but nothing appears

can anyone tell me how to get these infos in game when i press the guide button inside any game?

it seems you did nnot put the f3plugin in the plugin folder....

  6. hello

Thank you for the great update and the hard work

I've read that with this new update i can import covers from the xbox hdd, this is something i need since my emulators don't have any covers

However it says they can be imported from the import folder in the hdd but I don't know where that folder is.Can someone tell me please

    Thx in advance

It is in the Aurora folder: User\Import

you put a folder with the titleid of the game and then the images.

most emulators have the same titleid, so i think you can also put the name in there. I will ask MaesterRowen to make a short description how to name everything

It was however already possible to change assets locally using Swizzy's Asset editor

  7. Hey, im loving this update for the Cover changer, but i miss one of the features previously mencioned, and that is the "Profile Panel" I really want to see that in the new version and i dont found it, is there any way to activate, or download a script or something?

It didn't make the release. Will be in 0.7, if ever :p

  8. I don't think this would be a problem. We can't guarantee the api won't change, but other that that, I see no issues (unless you are going to generate a LOT of traffic and server use goes up while ad revenue remains the same and we can't cover the costs anymore).

You can use the json api for the app, stuff like:

    http://xboxunity.net/Resources/Lib/TitleList.php?page=0&count=10&search=&sort=4&direction=1&category=3&filter=0

which gets you the 10 games with most link users like so:

  9. I know TX did it, as I had to wait like an extra 2 weeks for r-jtag, but it was worth it in the end. lol. I could have sworn it was done here with both previous aurora, and FSD releases.

No, I dont expect it to get out of beta, but I dont think the devs are done with it, or nova quite yet either. Could be wrong, but any thing that is getting features added to it constantly will stay in beta, as it will constantly be changing, and all. Now I am surprised that there was never a "Stable" non-beta release, so people could choose stable, or bleeding edge.(Like some versions of linux do, gentoo for instance give you the option to allow installing versions of packages that havnt been thoroughly tested by the gentoo devs, if you tell portage to allow it, if not it results to the last stable version.) As far as the scene being dead, it is only that way, because there isnt much more you can do. :( New dashboards are great, but as it is everything has been done. We have decent emulators for most systems, we have a few choices for dashboards, we have Link, and Stealth options, and we have trainers. Now all we need in Chrome, so we can watch youtube, hulu and netflix without stealth, and better video codecs, but with xmplayer, that has been done. You can also use serviio if you want to stream music and video to your rgh, and not have to worry about codecs. Long story short the basics are done, so now it is a matter of giving the devs time to finish what they are woking on and get it to the public.

We never delayed releases because people were nagging. It has been said a few times, but the real reasons have always been that it wasnt done yet. When it's done, it gets released.

As for the beta, well, way back when we started, we planned a simple dash, 2 or 3 beta's and a version 1 to be done with it... now we just kept adding features. I think most of the Aurora beta's have been more stable than any FSD release was. Maintaining a stable and a beta will just be too much work. 0.6b will have some features that will be a little bit more buggy, but everything that already was in 0.5b will be as stable or better in 0.6b.

We ask the devs to release the new update too many times instead of saying thanks so : THANK YOU FOR TAKING TIME OUT OF YOUR LIVES TO DO STH MOST OF US DON'T EVEN APPRECIATE GIVE YOUR FAMILIES AND ACTUAL LIVES MORE TIME CAUSE THEY DESERVE IT if there were no more updates for aurora I would be content we have pretty much all we can ask for already

well you are still getting an update anyway!

Anyway, thanks a lot for these comments, we really appreciate it!

  10. I'd also like to see a "path" to the game. You CAN see it today in the various menus (Select subtitles etc), but its usually cut off so you can't see the full path. Anywhere would be nice =)

Reason being that I sometimes get a game called just "Disk1" or something and I'd like to see where that is coming from.

If not, the ability to see the device the game is on directly in the game list (Below perhaps) would be neat, like USB/HDD/ConnectX etc.

in 0.6b there will be an extra button in the menu that brings you to the file manager at the current game's location

  11. Hi all,

It's been a while since we talked about Aurora 0.6b. Development and testing kind of stalled when everyone's personal life got in the way. We are still working on 0.6b and got most of the work done. I will try to answer a few of the questions or clear up some of the speculations and assumptions I've seen.

    SOME ANSWERS

    1. No we are not "waiting on the translators". Development and testing stalled because life got in the way for a lot of us. Because of this, we might release 0.6b with less testing as usual, and only English, depending on the availability of all the translators (translations can be added later).
    2. There is no release date. Most features are done. File and folder structure changed for 0.6b so updater will take a little bit more work still.
    3. Utility Scripts are not "widgets". The LUA utility scripts are run in a separate scene. It will not allow you to make "widgets" that are part of the main screen. There are predefined scenes you can use (like messagebox, filebrowser), or you can design your own screen using Xui. A repo will be available on GitHub, where scripts can be shared and downloaded via the repo browser.
    4. Yes ^Wulfgar^ / wulfie66 (<- is that your birth year :stuart: ) has been part of the scene for as long as his beard is.
    5. Yes we do listen to suggestions. The fact a specific one isn't in, doesn't mean we don't listen. It will either be in later, or we chose a different way (quick filters are here to stay).
    6. No not all, but most of the announced features will be in. An overview:
    • Passcode Security: yes
    • Cover Downloader: yes
    • Game Wallpapers: yes
    • Asset Importer: yes
    • Screen Capture Viewer: yes
    • Plugin Settings Revamp: yes
    • Saved Game Manager: no
    • Profile Pannel: no
    • Utility Scripts: partially (a lot of the libraries are in, not all)

In addition, a lot of people asked for a game installer like F3. We have made a GOD installer that is accessible through Utility Scripts (and a script to use it right away):

As usual; thanks for helping us test and improve Aurora and we look forward to bringing more functionality in the future.

  12. Anyway if they gave the full source I'm sure we could see something like the old XBMC (nightly builds) where it just kept improving a lot and added new features.

ps: X360 is now dead  . It can't even update games and I manually have to do it again like in the old days... And I refuse to use Phoenix, so no more improvements will be made on my X360 for ever :(.

To help you out of your dreams... source has been out several times, and there have been people that could get the missing parts. Even when the xbox scene was still a big thing, not a single release was made by anyone. If we'd release source, nobody would do a damn thing.

If you havent noticed yet, the 360 scene is pretty much dead, and besides us, there isn't really anyone releasing anything for it nowadays.

As for your choice not to use Aurora, that's your choice, don't make it our problem. Meantime, it does everything you are complaining about not having.
