Must use router to use System LInK?

why if i connect my xbox 360 with modem adsl and go to general setting there's sentences "NO connection detected" but i connected my xbox to modem??????

I can't signin...there's that sentences "Setting Up Connection to Server" I use ADSL modem and i want know what the dashlaunch setting?I have been turn on Devlink and Pingpatch...Please help me

must I connect my Xbox 360 to PC for use LInK?
