Thanks Gavin! I'm with you, even bought the xbone over the PS4 (anyone else here addicted to Destiny?) Mostly taking on this project just to add to the collection. It seems like the last time I really checked it out that Habib was taking over for Rogero, so if he's still developing then that is probably the best way to go.

Hi all!

So I just got my hands on a backwards compatible PS3 phat that I'm going to downgrade using a teensy 2.0 ++.  Thing is, I haven't had a finger on the PS3 scene for a looooong time. Apparently, Rogero is no longer in the scene and his CFW was my go to back in the day.

So question is, with all the different CFW flavors out there, does anyone here have a recommendation on which firmware I should go with? And if you have the inclination, could you tell me why?

I always figured that when people began migrating to xbox one/ps4 that you'd see a lot more people willing to take the plunge and jtag their old console. Perhaps this has something to do with that?

Isn't there a dashlaunch setting that will automatically do that? I know that xm360 can.

Honestly, if that's all the shop knows about the scene, I wouldn't take it back to them.  You're better off using this site to educate yourself and update software yourself.

This is a great resource, especially for those who are just starting out.  I can't really understand why anybody would want to detract from someone's contributions to making the scene an easier, more accessible place. Thanks BestNoob!

you've got a mismatched dvd key. Your motherboard and dvd tray are married, i.e. without modifications only your original disc tray will work with your motherboard.  Either somebody has incorrectly flashed your dvd tray and accidentally put the wrong key on it, or (more likely) someone replaced your old dvd tray with a new one (probably because the old one was no longer reading discs) and never bothered to install the old pcb board onto the new dvd tray.

Got my xbox one and I'm loving it.  I'm a hopeless Destiny addict.  Plus, with backwards compatibility kicking in I'm jumping back into games like gears of war 3. I still have my 360 and Ogbox hooked up to my TV.  Just because you get a new console doesn't mean you have to mothball your old one. I really don't understand these guys who go through all the trouble of modding a 360 to make it awesome and then yardsale it the second a new console comes out.

All hail Aurora!  That being said, I would LOVE to see XBMC working on a 360, even if it was in Libxenon. And even if it wasn't able to launch 360 titles, just having it as a media player that could organize my movies and music in a nice user friendly gui would be pretty awesome. (Album art and movie posters? Yes please!) Press power for games, press eject for movies!

I know this is a million years too late, but I just bumped up against that part name in Bunnie Haun's Hacking the Xbox book. It's called a toroidal inducter.

That is a sweet find, I'm incredibly jealous.  Just finished updating my own to a 750 gb hard drive.  Don't know what it is, but I still love my modded OGbox and use it all the time for emulators and such.

This is a great thread, I'm loving some of the ideas being presented.  Cloud saves over google drive would be AWESOME!  What are your thoughts on allowing users to install link/unity hubs on their own PC/server? It could take the pressure off of having a singular server handling all of the traffic.  I'm sure that adds a lot of complexity to the setup that may make it not worthwhile right there.

Damn Static! That's a sweet setup... I'm really looking forward to the AMD4 processors, I'm with you, AMD makes a sweet product at a great price point.

Gavin, why not add the f.a.q. and tutorials to the rotating billboard on the front page of the site?  With as much admin time as is taken up with newbs asking questions that have already been answered, I think it would be worthwhile to explore options that would allow admin time to be spent more productively.  All I ever see in the recent activity feed are people who have questions that have already had the everlasting Hell answered out of them.
