I think you are missing the part about ip address conflicts. If that address is in the dhcp lease range, and it was assigned to another device, it doesnt matter that you set it static, as this will still cause a conflict, and the first device on the network with that address. I would start by checking the addresses of the other devices on the network, or by changing the lease range, and giving it a static ip that isnt in that range. then forward the ports to that address. that is how I have had mine set up for 2 years now, and never had a problem.
Yes i know about ip address conflict. So before when i had no problem with link, i set it to 109. Cause there are only a few devices connected on my wifi. And i double check if there arent any device with that ip on the router page.
Just like now, no ones connected to the wifi so there are no conflicts.

Try setting a static ip on the xbox, and forwarding the ports on the router to that ip address. Make sure the address you choose is outside of the lease range, if it isnt, then it can cause ip address conflicts. Also, I have found that some routers do not like to forward certain ports. It all comes down to your router/router config.
The xbox HAS a astatic ip. i set it to .109
Its just the same process i do when it was working before. I dont know whats wrong. Unless system link has changed. Or my router SUDDENLY for some reason doesnt want to forward ports anymore.

I love the poor me attitude..... lol. Make sure you have pingpatch enabled in dashlaunch, and then I would be checking the router settings. Also if you are using Upnp, it will still fail, but will work, assuming your router supports it, but if I had to take a guess, the settings on your router are wrong.
lol sorry it was 11pm and i was feeling sad. Anyway, everything is correct. Upnp isnt supported but before i can play seamlessly...

So since December, i cant system link anymore. That was the only thing giving me joy and now its gone.
Ok so anyway, the system link test is failing on me. Before, its normal, i would just change the ports and restart the router and bam its working again.
But now, its not. I never thought i would never see the "PASS" word again. Its all failing now.. What did I do to deserve this.
Why all of a sudden this would happen? Theres no notice. I shouldve enjoyed the last game and I didn't even know it.

Yes. Now get a proper router with UPNP capabilities. TP-Link has some and is cheap. Top Routers are FritzBox but i dont know if you habe them there.
Yeah ill just get a router myself cause i got this router from my ISP. i didnt have the options to choose what router to get.

UPDATE:
still no luck. aurora didnt solve my problem.
I guess its time to switch routers
-
Over time your fan will break faster then others
So its recommended to lower the speed down? What about the cpu temperature?

Backup -> copy the whole fsd folder into usb
You dont even have to delete fsd. I just wanted you to test it out.
Just copy aurora folder next to fsd folder and then start the default.xex via filemanager
The plugins should be reloaded by aurora. If not you just set aurora as default autostart application in dashlaunch.
Then try to setup you LiNK details.
And yes it is better then fsd. It would even be better if you could install the next version which will be released anytime soon.
You copy Aurora to a new folder on your console, then you change your launch.ini to point to aurora for autobooting it, you don't lose your FSD installation or anything, they live side-by-side, they just don't run at the same time... think of it as having Chrome and Firefox on your computer...
It's quite simple, when you boot up Aurora you get the game menu directly, then you have at the bottom a bar telling you what buttons to press for the various functions, you'll find most things you need to find quite easily/quickly
You simply delete the FSD folder once you're feeling like everything is working as you want it to, i recommend leaving the FSD installation until you're ready to transition fully to Aurora and drop FSD, then you just use the Filemanager in Aurora to delete it
There is no guide to it, mainly because it's a basic operation really, you download the latest version and just copy it over, then you open your launch.ini and edit it on your computer, or use the dashlaunch installer to change the configuration to boot to Aurora directly, you can also use FSD to launch Aurora, or XEXMenu if you prefer that... or you can make a QuickLaunch link
Ok i ran the aurora on the FSD file manager. Worked perfect. I actually like how simple Aurora looks. Good job to whoever did it.
Anyway, tested the plugin.. eerything passed except the upnp capability and of course.. the broadcast and data port.
I will try it again at an earlier time though cause before usually at night it doesnt work i dont know why.

Its the same and its even done in seconds
Aurora is installed same way as fsd...
Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
Is it possible to backup my current FSD installation just in case?
Also, if i do decide to install aurora, is there a huge adjustment coming from fsd? are they just practically the same?
Also, how do i properly delete my fsd installation or if i install aurora it automatically overwrites it?
Can you guys link me to the aurora installation guide?

@jeff why not turning to max when you cook something? Do you really need max?
w-what? well i set it to max to lower the temperature. i mean i dont see no harm in setting it to max.
-
Wait.. my fan speed is set to max. Is that a bad thing? Why dont people set it to max? Is it only because of the noise?
-
Looks like its worth it for you for real instead of buying new routers and opening several threads. Its worth it buddy give it a try
Ok ill try it soon. Is the aurora installation easier?
-
Thats why i tell you to install aurora with its independent plugin files. Maybe your fsd has a bug or plugins not working properly. It is moths ago and you never installed nor tried to refresh fsd/aurora from scratch? Thats just ... You know
Hmm.. I could try reinstalling FSD.. but i dont know if its worth it.
-
Yes, if you're not using 775 it's down to FSD most likely (could be an issue with your router also, but...)
It doesn't matter alot, but... the ports must NOT be used by something else...
Well turns our im on 775..
i use 1000-4000. I dont use the common ports like 80.
So... i think it comes down to the router this time.
-
Ok I will check the version tomorrow. But if its not on the latest.. do you think that could be the reason? Cause im 100% blaming it now on my router.Go to the about screen, it's where you find settings, furthest to the right... you'll see version there...
updates aren't working anymore...
Edit: im on 775 http://m.imgur.com/efxdFRq
Im using FSD. Are you telling me to switch to Aurora? Do u think its worth doing?Could you please try to test it all with aurora included with its plugins?
Just use standart ports for the first time
What do you mean standard ports? I just cycle between 1000-4000 cause it doesnt matter what ports are used right?
-
If you use OpenWRT it'll say they passed for sure (it does for me) but, those are for advanced users and you have to actively install the UPNP package yourself, it doesn't fit on all model of routers (some routers just don't have enough space on the firmware storage device)
Most standard Routers really sucks... they don't always follow the standards and whatnot...
It shouldn't matter what kernel you're running, however it matters what FSD version you're running... you need to have r775 in order to use LiNK
Hmm my fsd i think is on the latest cause i dont receive an update alert. The kernel isnt updated and im glad its no affected.
-
Anyway, i tried port trigerring. still failed.
only factor left is...
what if its the FSD's problem? and my dash isnt even updated. But idk i hope its not it.
-
When you have a UPNP enabled router, and enable UPNP in the settings, the ports might say they failed but still work, or they might say they passed...
Well theres no upnp option on my router page. But its normal on the test page thats it says "upnp not found" but all ports are passed and i can play.
-
Get your facts straight will you?
UPNP MIGHT still say they failed... it won't always...
What do you mean?
-
Try using UPNP if your router supports it. This will handle the ports for you, but the test will still say they failed.
I think my router doesnt support upnp but that was fine before even if theres no upnp.
-
Yes, connect to the wifi network...
None of those settings make any difference for the ports, what those settings change is how well the network will work, you should put your router in a channel that's as far away from others as possible to avoid collisions between the networks as that'll cause performance issues etc. etc. for mode, that's just what devices can connect, if you set it to N only, then it won't support B and G devices... N devices will support B + G aswell if you set it to only use those...
i'm not 100% sure what MCS is, but i doubt it'll make any difference either...
Hmm so my wifi settings are all good? Is the channel 11 ok? Or should i go with the maximum which is 13?
Anyway, if yo usee my screenshot above, i can see my username on the rooms on Unity when i run BLOPS2 and join on system link. So there IS an internet connection.
-
Wifi security doesn't have any effects on LiNK, what it does have an effect on is whether or not your console can connect...
Can connect to what? To the wifi network?
Well i can confirm its connected cause i can access the ip of the xbox via windows explorer and FTP files and see the files on the console. And my JQEprofile is passed on the test. So theres internet connection.
The forwarding part on the other hand...
what about the wifi settings in terms of the channel, wireless mode.. etc.? (like in the pic above)
also, i can see my name when i join a room on blops2

Its been months ive been failing the port test for system link. Before i had no problem with it and it just suddenly failed.
Im one by one picking the cause of it. From the ip address, the ports, etc.
Ive tried everything. Im thinking maybe its my wifi settings. Cause it was reset before it was working fine. I think i changed the security settings. The SSID index, etc.
Do you think it affects the link test?
Also, i can join a room when i go to black ops 2
I can even see my name on the unity site:
-
Ok i just tested it... it did not work.
What did i do in life to deserve this?
Help me get back on System Link

I did try new ports. 1000 to 4000. Does the number I use matter though?
