  1. Hi I noticed a bug that I cant seem to type into the onscreen keyboard from the second controller.

You can control everything except for the onscreen keyboard and once it comes up you cant exit from it either.

not a real big issue but if you have a steering wheel as your first controller and a normal controller as the second if I pick up the other controller to operate it in an easier fashion I cant use search etc because of the onscreen keyboard issue.

  2. If I set my console to 1080p for example then take it into the bedroom I get an unsupported resolution as I have an older TV.

To fix this issue in the NXE you hold the yellow button and the right trigger after powering on the console from the controller sync button.

With dash launch and or fake anim one seems to  mess with that function and it no longer works so you have to take the Xbox and plug it into another TV to reduce the resolution and bring it back so it would sync on this specific TV.

Is there an easy fix for this or could dash launch be extended to have a reset or set video mode button combo on boot?

Every time I take my console from the lounge to the bedroom before I un plug it I have to make sure the resolution is 720p or under or I can't  see it when I plug it in to my other TV.

If any one may be able to offer a work around it would be really appreciated.

  3. Some times when I use the search function by pressing the x button twice from the main screen it comes up with the onscreen keyboard, if I press a key on the Microsoft chat board it reverts back into the previous menu and locks up the whole program instead of typing in the letter I  press.

It does not happen every time I use the search function but every now and then, I cant say precisely the conditions of it happening as it seems to be random.

When this happens it requires you to power off the console and power it back on.

Alsois there a way to hide the onscreen keyboard if you have a chat board plugged in?

  4. I defiantly did that I named all the folders as per the titles name on unity then did a rescan but that did not work.

renaming the emulators in auroa from the info display as they are named on unity and refreshing the info did fix the problem.

I know how to fix the odd one that does not pick up now without using the assets editor.

  5. so you are saying if I change the folder name they may pickup I have just unpacked the zip files from xbins with their original naming?

how would I find out the folder names they scrape I guess it is just the title name on unity ?

These are the ones I have trouble scraping covers and a few search terms:

    scummVm360  (scumm)

    reminiscence360    (flashback)

    raw360     (another world)

    q3_360  (quake 3, team arena)

    ppsspp  (play station portable, psp)

    pce360   (pcengine, nec pcengine)

    jazz    (jazz jack rabbit)

    fakeanim

    exult360          (exult, ultima 7)

    cpx3360         (Capcom play system 3, system 3)

    bor360              ( beats of rage)

xna creators club  (xna studio, xna offline)

    XBermuda360        (Bermuda,  Bermuda syndrome)

windows media centre  (mce, media centre, media centre extender)

  6. I noticed that some of the homebrew/ emulators does not have titleid information stored in the xexfile and because of this they don't pull cover art from unity I believe.

I have noticed some people have manually upped covers for thomebrew programs and set title id which that is not related to the one actually stored in the xex file (made up a random id).

I have made up some covers for homebrew not currently listed in unity but I don't know how to go about uploading it as most of the homebrew has 00000000 as the title id and I don't want to make up my own id's and just post them on unity as others have.

The homebrew has sort of been hard to pull covers automatically because of the titleid's and I'm happy to change the id's of the games and upload the covers to pull data automatically off unity.

I have searched high and low and downloaded every emulator and homebrew I could find and I have made covers where they were not available, if made up id's for them all patched them in the xexfiles and created covers it is just going to sort out my covers and mess up unity.

If I were to do this and provide a downloadable package would you host it on your xbins downloads area then others could just download it to their box scan and be all done.

I get sick of editing art for every Xbox I sell and I'm just looking to make it better automated for homebrew like it is for official games.

    any ideas comments?

  7. The thing is FATXplorer is able to mount the drive in windows like any other usb and as you can imagine it transfers at sata speeds for me where good old ftp on the Xbox at best case is 11mbps with the ftp overhead on top of that.

If you are copying on a few files sure ftp is the way to go but if you are copying on coinops mega pack for example  and  a few movies it can take hours to do this will be way better.

Of note with the correct sata to ide adaptor you can use a modern sata drive in the Xbox just nothing over 2TB it is hard to get ide drives reasonably priced these days.

If like me you mod lots of original Xbox consoles for friends and family and fit 1 and 2tb drives it can be very time consuming to copy on content and set them up, this just makes things easier.

yes sure it is a paid app but I bit the bullet and purchased it and it has been very valuable for me as a modding tool for the 360.

if it is as good on the Xbox as the 360 storage devices I will be happy!!

I have sent Eaton some binary dumps of Xbox drives to play with and hope to see some progress soon, but that is up to him and his available spare time.

He has all the toys to play with as one would say.

  8. would it be possible to upgrade the ftp to support ftp boost mode that was used in the original xbox developed by the team avalaunch?

i know this is probally more dash launch related but i still play a lot of the original xbox titles and some of the games have a lot of really small files and it causes ftp to crawl.

  9. Libretro is a bit different to other emulators as it is a library that interfaces between the emulator cores to the front end in this case you would include the libretro library into auroa and it would in a sence become the front end to the cores.

The cores are created to run from the libretro library hooks which makes them hardware independant and any updates to cores will work on other hardware.

libretro/retroarch has been created to address many of the problems with other emulators and many of tthe emulators have been ported across to libretro /retroacrh because of the multi platform nature, it saves a lot of work recoding the interface and rewriting cores for other platforms when you can just work on the cores once the library is implemented into the gui.

it would be awesome if it were implemented and i see it as the smartest emulator system out there retroarch is already on the 360 but the 360 port lacks in the gui department (no covers box art etc...).

  10. yes and no to this one i will explain:

The original hacked emulator files were releaced by xorloser I believe (dont quote me on that tho) on the xbox hacker bbs to a select few friends he trusted for their own persional use only but it was leaked on the net by one of them that could of got him in a lot of trouble at the time and created a bit of a rift in the scene at the time also.

In this select release there was an unoficial front end that allowed you to set emulation options such as screen aspect resolution parental controls and change emulation profiles for games and the front end was not included as it could be tracked back to him.

This front end will never likely see the light of day many have asked but nothing has come of it and I believe.

you can change the game title id to that of another game to use another emulation profile in hoping said game that is not compatable may work better with another profile, the problem is you dont know which profile is used by which game, at one stage I compiled a list of emulation profiles to game titles but it only contained the 25 games i owned.

This front end patched in the title id's into the emulation binarys using a on the fly memory patching system i believe and was it's most usefull feature.

it would be nice if the new hud xui editor was used to patch these items in xbox titles this is a job for a skilled coder proficient in ppc assembly to reverse engineer as there is no source to the emulation binarys.

some of the binarys have video features enabled and other things disabled it depends on the title id of the game and the emulation profile in use.

  11. I'm guessing you are on windows ?

have you set the security options to give a user prividilges such as the user everyone then log in with the credentials

    Ie:

    pc name:   MYPC

    pc share name:  XBOX360

    username: everyone

    password:

on the pc set your share up and give it a name XBOX360 then give the user everyone access to the share

using a blank username can cause problems.
