Same problem, xbox (kernel:15574.0) start with original disc (and with DVD copy too from file menu) but after stop cause "missing infinity base" when its already connected.
The leds on the base blink just for a mil-sec, but after nothing, and if I reconect it makes the same so I think the "power" goes in.
We've skylander too, and there if you conntact the portal, the quarter rings didn't light up.
On an other site I read that if you put your portal too close to the box, or put on any kind of "steel" there will be malfunction (exactly with the power coins/rings).
I was at the shop where I bought, but there it works fine, without any problem - I saw.
So we've to seeking forward. maybe the system update...
