  1. It means that if you're not sure which setting you have in dashlaunch you put 2 folders... your kinect probably needs to be updated as well when you get that message... you also need to have a valid storage device (one that the Xbox 360 dashboard shows it's content from that has at least 190 MB of free space)

Well, with both folders in my USB drive, I just had to quit FSD to the original Xbox 360 Dashboard, put the flash drive in and... The screen came up, accept the correct screen as this tutorial says, and then THE XBOX SHUTS DOWN!!! And I'm like "OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG", but later started by itself normaly and my Avatars and Kinect Worked again, so thanks guys =)

  2. If you download the same version from there, you can install the avatar data without updating kernel ;)

So, I did download the right version, for my Xbox Dashboard version which is 16537, put it on the same usb flashdrive that I used to install FSD, and as soon as I turn it on it keeps telling me that "to use Kinect, I need an update", but does not show me the option to use my USB drive. I read that if FSD boots with dashlaunch it wont work, but I erased it and still didnt work.

Also I came up with a software calling "autoGG" but I'm not sure how to "autoupdate" via USB, Can you please help me?

    Edit:

The way i always do it is download the correct version from here: http://gxarena.com/Firmwares/Xbox360/

Verify the MD5 hash (there are many tools for this around the web)

unpack it and put on a FAT32 USB drive

copy the folder $SystemUpdate and rename the copy to $$ystemUpdate

Now, if you start your console with this memory in and then start a game or any homebrew other than Aurora/F3 it should trigger the update... obviously you also have to have the appropriate memory device (USBMU, HDD, internal memory unit etc.)

This mean that I need 2 folders in the USB drive?? $SystemUpdate and $$ystemUpdate??

  3. Thanks, I'll try that.

I've updated the kernel data and after updating the kinect data I'm able to play "some" of my games, but there are 1 that I cannot play. I thought it was the disc but it work on my friends Xbox, but after we swapped disk and tried RGH on this new Xbox the game, again, stopped working, so...

My xbox is 2.0.16537.0... If I look for the sys update for that number, on this page (http://gxarena.com/Firmwares/Xbox360/), can I get avatar and kinect data without updating kernel data to the last one or it may get bricked?

  4. I have a question, and after reading this hole thread I didnt find the answer so excuse me if it passed me.

I have a RGH installed Xbox, and I have the last version of the FSD I just change the hard drive for a bigger one and lost the avatar image but I really dont mind but after a while I download a Kinect Game and it says that I need and Update to play it. I have original Kinect games that can be played without problems, but this last 2 games I got ask me for this update and I dont know how and if I can do it. Maybe this procedure could help me so, Would it work?

    Thanks guys.

  5. Your problem is probably related to some data transfer corruption...

What you should do is check the S.M.A.R.T status of all the drives you've used, if any of them mention sector errors or such (even just "waiting" sectors) the drive is no good...

You could also try to replace the USB cable (i know, it's a far shot, but it's possible that it's not as good as it should be)

A simple test you can do is transfer a game to the internal hdd, then copy it back and compare the data, if there's ANY difference between the files you have a communication error somewhere...

I've already tried something like that. I swapped the Internal HDD with a Brand New one, installed everything from scratch and it didn't worked, it still crash. Later, I reinstalled the Original Xbox HDD, reinstalled the FSD and used the New HDD as an external HDD with the same games and is working right now...

I'll try what you've suggested tomorrow to see what happens.

  6. Well. Hi there.

I've used a lot of the tutorials here to help me out finishing my RGH Xbox but I got a problem that I cannot fix.

When I load games from my external USB hard drive I have no troubles playing, not at all, but when I copy the same games from the external to the internal (original 250gb) hdd the games crashes after a couple of minutes of playing and says "disk error", then you press A and the xbox shuts down but the controller is still on so the console restarts.

I've installed the last FSD, last Dash Launch and tried again, but the same thing happens. Then, I formatted a new 160gb Sata 2 HDD, installed it and copied 1 game (in this case Forza Horizon) and waited through the hole initial CG, and when they let you drive the Viper the game used to crash, but it didn't. I've played the hole first screen before it saves, reset the Xbox, copied 60gb in games, and then I've played Forza and guess what... It crashed before I could press a single button after the initial CG.

So, I don't know what else to do. Right now I re installed the original Xbox internal HDD, with a couple of XBLA games installed and there is no problems, and have like 100gb games in an external USB drive and playing them also has no problem. But I don't like having 200gb of free space in the internal HDD not being able to put anything there. So, could you please help me?
