  1. Those temps would be way to high for my liking for sure.

my temps don't go over 65 on any of the sensors, and that's running it for a good few hours.

id suggest as irishdave has said and adjust your temp controls.

  2. Ah well things have developed a lot more since ive been gone.. lol

I know what you mean about all the editing of the xurs and getting it right I spent hours myself refining my skins for the best performance and visual display. But every hour I spent was well worth it.

I cant wait to see the finished skin.

It may very well be me asking you for some advice soon on my new skin :)

  3. I did this a long time ago with my skins. :) it nice to have the tabs listed as you want them.

Might see if I settings option can be created to edit or switch these titles without having to edit the skin in the xml.

No promises but will look one day :p

  4. Having your ports open is the key here. Without the ports open u will get nothing :(

Default ports are 1111 and 1112 check your router and ensure port forwarding has been configured correctly.

As an addtiinal note my setup is a very strange one to get link to work.

As my router is no where near my xbox and I dont have a wifi dongle (I have a original jtag jasper console) I have my xbox hooked up to my laptop with a bridged connection with my wifi.

But here is the catch for me to get it to work.

I have set my bridge to have a static ip. Required so I can set port forwarding on that ip address.

My xbox also has a static ip address but if I just launch f3 and try and connect (test plugin in settings) it fails.

So and dont ask me why I tried this but it worked for me.

To get it to work. I have to boot to m$ dash go to network settings test me connection to my pc. It passes no problems.

Then back to f3 and test link connection and boom all passes :) and link works :)

Just wish I had better Internet connection lol.

    Cheers

  5. I never knew that was an issue. Cant say I experienced it when I was creating skins. I introduced tab animations for fsd2.2 skins and lots of lagging issues. But my problem was not with extra xurs running in the background but was due to the formate of the animations.

Are u using video files for the animations.

If so what encoding is on the files. I optimized the encoding for my skins and they ran very well. Animations on all tabs in main.xur and background animations and no lag or anything when access other menus. And the background animation ran on all scenes too.

Let me know if there is anything I could help with. Im considering one last skin before I disappear completely :p (maybe)

    Cheers

  6.

Yes, if the skin is in the appropriate folder
    G:FSDSkinsDefault.xzp

Im guessing that's the location on you PC. but as long as thats the structure you copying across then yes it should work.

Can you confirm that the USB is plugged in the back USB ports not the front ones. (this is based on other peoples feedback getting F3 to run of a USB)

i would suggest getting another clean install and trying that if it fails again.

    Cheers,

    Dark

  7. Im Back, Well kinda,

I had probably the worst 2 years of my life with a lot of personal dramas i have been trying to sort out which is why i just dropped off the whole skin modding scene.

For a while now i have been considering a new skin for F3 and have lots of ideas but finding the time has been very difficult for me.

However if there is enough demand from the community to see one final skin from me then ill make one :)

Please respond to the Poll and at the end of the month if there is enough of you all out there that want to see one last skin ill get started on it.

    Cheers,

    Dark

  8. Glad you figured it out :) another zip that might help you out to skin faster... the xui files are just xml files so you can edit these in Visual Studio or notepad if you want :)

(Thanks c0z for pointing this out to me a few weeks back :))

  9. You really should go back to the creator of the skin and ask them to update it for F3. depending on the complexity of the skin it can take sometime to update them to work with new versions of FSD, trust me i know i have created several skins.. i haven't at this stage considered upgrading my old skins and instead working on new ones :)

Update: i just took a quick look and I wont touch this skin sorry... too much to do to update it..
