We’re very pleased to announce that after months of hard work we’ve finally reached a point where we are able to release a version of XBMC for Android that should be fully functional on pretty much any Android device. It’s packed with tons of cool features that make XBMC much more than just a media centre, but a media platform, bringing the complete online streaming experience to an easy to navigate system on your Android mobile phone, tablet or set top box.

Many improvements have been made to the XBMC software in order to make this release possible. Since XBMC still doesn’t provide support for hardware accelerated video decoding on most devices, we’ve customized this version in order to use an external video player in order to provide the full hardware accelerated video decoding that you’ll need in order to truly enjoy XBMC enough to consider it your main go-to for all your entertainment needs.

Many people have been hearing about XBMC across the web, but have simply dismissed it since they don’t see the need for another media player. XBMC is much more than just a simple media player, one of its main functions is the ability to interface with online streaming video web sites through the use of third party addons, we’ve also included some of the most popular addons built directly into the release.

Awesome! Thanks for the post, checking this out now.Edit: I played around with it for my "original HTC EVO 4g" and I'm just not sure my device was high end enough to smoothly run the app, so I trashed it. Seems really cool though.

Sounds good, my AT&T Fusion is good for calls, but APPS, browsing and most likely a media player like this would eat the shit out of my battery. (Wonder if its cause I'm using a custom rom??)
