[SOLVED] Anyone else with a Apple AEBS trying to setup LiNK Plugin F3

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I just got F3 up and running, now trying to get the F3 LiNK Plugin settings to work with my Apple Airport Extreme Base Station router. I have set up the DHCP reservation to identify the Black Xbox360S by MAC Address and assign it to IP Address 10.0.1.16. Next, I assigned Port Settings to the IP Address 10.0.1.16 Black Xbox360S. I have tried all combonations of 1000 & 1001, 3074, 88 in the UDP & TCP Port Settings.

Does anyone know the UDP & TCP Port Settings for the router and Data and Broadcast Posts for the F3 LiNK Plugin using AEBS ?

On the F3 Settings/Plugin Settings/F3Plugin/Test,it tells me: 'UPNP Enabled Router Not Found'. Im not sure if this is a deal breaker or not. UPNP is a Microsoft Protocol and I've been told that I can achieve simular results to UPNP by setting up the NAT settings under Network Options or I may not need to set this up at all.

I have not yet tried the 'Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol' or 'Enable Default Host At: 10.0.1.xx ' options because I dont think it'll do much good until I get the UDP & TCP settings right. Im not sure, but it looks like this option either routes the Xbox traffic through a computer or sets up a home sharing network without internet. Not entirly sure tho.

Next, I've got another Grey Xbox360S @ 10.0.1.17. It looks like once I use a set of ports on Black Xbox360S IP Address 10.0.1.16, I cant use the same ports on the Grey Xbox360S IP Address 10.0.1.17

I tried to upload screenshots of my router settings to this post, doesnt seem to want to let me tho.

UPDATE!

Router Settings:

Description: Black Xbox360S

Public UDP Ports: 88, 3074, 1000

Public TCP Ports: 3074, 1001

Private IP Address: 10.0.1.16

Private UDP Ports: 88, 3074, 1000

Private TCP Ports: 3074, 1001

I reconfigured the Xbox Network Settins to Manual

IP Settings: 10.0.1.16

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 10.0.1.1

DSN Settings: Manual

Primary DNS Server: 75.75.76.76 (Provided by ISP in the Internet Tab in Airport Utility)

Secondary DNS Server: 75.75.75.75 (Provided by ISP in the Internet Tab in Airport Utility)

Now, with the UPNP box unchecked and Data Port: 1000 and Broadcast Port: 1001, I get:

UPNP Status: UPNP Enabled Router Not Found

Data Port Status: Port 1000 TCP; Fail UDP; Pass

Broadcast Port Status: Port 1001 TCP; Pass UDP; Fail

JQE360 Athentication Status: Pass

I seem to be getting closer, not quite there yet, I still need help.

Problem Solved!!

11/29/12 AEBS FirmWare 7.6.1

Black Xbox360S Settings:

Xbox360/System/Network Settings/Wired Network/Configure NetworkBasic Settings

Gateway: 10.0.1.1

DNS Settings: Manual

Secondary DNS Server: 75.75.75.75 (Comcast)

Under Additional Settings/Advanced Settings you can find your MAC Address

Router Settings:

Go to: AirPort Utility/Network

LiNK Plugin Settings:

With the UPNP box unchecked and Data Port: 1000 and Broadcast Port: 1001, I get:

UPNP Status: UPNP Enabled Router Not Found

Data Port Status: Port 1000 TCP; Pass UDP; Pass

Broadcast Port Status: Port 1001 TCP; Pass UDP; Pass

JQE360 Athentication Status: Pass

Everything tested and working GREAT!!

I tried EVERYTHING last night, nothing I tried would let the UDP Ports pass. I woke up this morning and fired her up to see where I left off, changed nothing and decided to try to test, ALL PASS!! Sometimes its better to be lucky than good.

Next, I would like to see if I can get its twin, Grey Xbox360S, on the same network Muawhahahah!!!

For the record I have:

Apple Time Capsule 500gb Router

Model: A1302

Firmware: 7.6.1

As my main router

I also have:

Airport Extreme Base Station (AEBS)

Model: A1354

Firmware: 7.6.1

Both routers are simultaneous dual-band models N, Gigabit Ethernet ports on the AEBS, maybe the Time Capsule too.

This one is set up to extend the wireless network and sits in the entertainment center allowing me a wired or wireless connection to all of my goodies. The Black Xbox360S works wired or wireless from the AEBS, probably get better speeds if I go wired. Xbox Live should still work, havent got around to updating to the new dash yet.

NEWER, BETTER UPDATE NEWS!!!

OK, I thought I had it set up correctly. I passed all tests except the UPNP Enabled Router, passed all of the port scans. I could join a room, and select a team, but just after it created the connection, it would say that I lost connection. Drove me NUTS!!! Defying all logic, I set it up as follows:

Black Xbox360S Settings:

Xbox360/System/Network Settings/Wired Network/Configure NetworkBasic Settings

IP Settings: Manual

IP Address: 10.0.1.16

Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0

Gateway: 10.0.1.1

DNS Settings: Manual

Primary DNS Server: 75.75.76.76 (Comcast)

Secondary DNS Server: 75.75.75.75 (Comcast)

Under Additional Settings/Advanced Settings you can find your MAC Address

Router Settings:

Go to: AirPort Utility/Network

Router Mode: DHCP + NAT

DHCP Reservations: Assign an IP Address to the Xbox MAC Address

Port Settings:

Description: Black Xbox360S

Public UDP Ports: 88, 3074

Public TCP Ports: 88, 3074

Private IP Address: 10.0.1.16

Private UDP Ports: 88, 3074

Private TCP Ports: 88, 3074

Airport Utility/Network/Network Options/Enable NAT Port Mapping Protocol is checked, Enable Default Host At: not checked, no IP entered

LiNK Plugin Settings:

With the UPNP box unchecked and Data Port: 88 and Broadcast Port: 3074, I get:

UPNP Status: UPNP Enabled Router Not Found

Data Port Status: Port 88 TCP; Pass UDP; Fail

Broadcast Port Status: Port 3074 TCP; Pass UDP; Fail

JQE360 Athentication Status: Pass

Although it failed on the UDP Ports test, it worked. I mean, I actually LiNK'd into and played a few rounds of GoW3!!!

Thanks man I played with yours to finally get mine working

Thats Great news. Please post your settings to help me and others (this post had over 200 views, you're the first reply other than myself).

I just go the Grew Xbox360S updated and configured.

Oddly enough, on the LiNK Plugin screen, Ports 3072 and 3073 were pre-entered into Data and Broadcast. Because of having 2 Xboxes on the same network, I thinkI'm gonna try Ports 3071, 3072 on Black and 3073, 3074 on Grey. I'm not a networking Guru, just a guy with a lot of patients and a few days off from work.

I cant tell if my setup is flaky, or if there are a LOT of other people out there that dont have their settings quite right.
