    xK3Y review

xK3Y Review By: JQE of TeamFSD The xK3Y is a DVD Emulation device allowing you to use ISO files on a USB harddrive instead of DVDs to launch games. My initial feel for the device was that it seemed simple enough. The documentation seemed overly simplified and took a few reads to fully understand, but in the end it turned out to really be that simple. The installation went exactly as expected, You copy a few fles to a mini SD card and plug it in, then you plug the device inline with your DVD cables. Finally you run a ribbon cable out the back of the case and connect it to a usb dongle. There are a lot of different methods you can use to access the games on your HDD. First being the included remote, you can browser the ISO files and pick which one to launch. Second is called MenuISO which allows you to launch the games from Picture App, third is DVDMenu which loads the gamelist in a sort of CoverFlow and allows you to select which one, finally is using the WiFi dongle and using any web enabled device (with native apps for iphone and android). Also has a bypass mode allowing you to use the original DVD Drive. Pros: Maintains the Safety of your original discs and allows you to access your games from a USB HDD Easier to take multiple Games with you as they all fit on the HDD Simplicity, no soldering or modifications to existing hardware. plugs inline. Cons: Complex to get to and from the games. Many steps to load each game. Not considered live safe (though it seems to be working on live at the time of writing this) cost, It does have a steep cost in comparison to DVD Fw and other options. I would suggest if you have a few extra dollars that this is a useful tool to allow you to play your games from USB without JTAG / RGH and still play online (not marked as live safe though).
