RetroArch 360 - can anyone help with its development?

Recommended Posts

Hi. RetroArch (http://www.libretro.com/) is an open-source multi-system emulator for various platforms, but there have not been any recent releases for Xbox 360. From http://www.libretro.com/index.php/retroarch-1-2-july-4-release-kickoff/ :

The only exception to this release promise is the Xbox 360 port. I have been routinely screwed and scammed by the ‘underground’ console hacking scene and right now I’m sitting on this paperweight RGH Xbox 360 that is useless for development, so that port is on indefinite hold ... Anyway, if you guys still consider this Xbox 360 version important, let me know but I’m not going to go and take money out of my own coffers again to make that happen. I’m done with the console scene shenanigans.

In a thread on their forum, http://libretro.com/forums/showthread.php?t=3408, Twinaphex is asking for help getting his RGH'd slim Xbox 360 to boot so he can use it for development, so maybe not all is lost.

Can anyone here help him with that, or help with Xbox 360 RetroArch development in general? I don't know exactly how he's been screwed over by the Xbox 360 console scene previously, or by whom, but it would be great to show him that the scene is not all bad.

Please note that I am just a user of RetroArch, not a project member, and I'd love to see it once again released on Xbox 360 as well as the other platforms it comes out on.

I've already tried helping him with that, i even worked a little bit on the 360 Port... until he pissed me off to the point of no return...

If you want to help on this particular project with development, you're in for one hell of a nightmare as he'll essentially call you an idiot unless you think EXACTLY like he does...

** Edit: **

To clarify a little bit; this is how MY experience with working with Squarepusher a.k.a. Twinaphex was like, and i just got messaged from him personally telling me i'm an idiot once again, this time for telling others how i felt working with him, now... i can't give him exact examples without looking into old logs from when i was working on this to see exactly when he said things that made me feel like he was calling me an idiot and because of that i'm badmouthing him for no reason... great huh? i guess the fact that i don't feel like wasting time looking through all logs of messages i've ever sent to him, and me now being promoted to admin on the site that happens to be the home of JPizzle and Mattie whom he have a personal problem with it kinda escalated even further...

Well, i'm done helping out on ANY projects anywhere now, if i'm going to do something, it'll be my own projects where nobody can tell me i'm an idiot for doing things a little different, especially for not knowing how to get into a large project like this one...

When i was working with this project i made code changes that i tested to the best of my ability, apparently some of those changes caused issues with the Windows port... The last thing i did was do a pull request to the main repo of RA with a very large image, i wasn't thinking about everything as at the time i didn't have any experience in working with any projects other then my own, and squarepusher got angry with me over that after he noticed it, i can understand it was a bad thing for me to do, but it was equally bad of him NOT checking the pull request before accepting it, making the change permanent...

If you feel like working with RA, feel free, i'm not going to stop you... but personally i'm not going to work with them ever again, and i probably won't ever work with any big projects ever again... atleast none that is already started, i might join in with friends if they're about to start something cool and want me to help them out...

Hearing about your unpleasant encounter with Squarepusher over the 360 Port project is depressing. Constructive collaboration is the goal of cooperation. It's regrettable that arguments caused annoyance. It makes sense that you have chosen to concentrate on your own projects, where you are allowed to use your creative freedom.

It's disheartening to hear about the challenging experience with Squarepusher on the 360 Port project.
