Xbox 360 RGH Dashboard downgrade 17150 to 16747

Recommended Posts

Flash the old dashboard if you want to it should work

If you have problems you can just reflash the new dash again.

The question is why you want that. There is no reason to go back. Whats the deal

as the title says, how can i downgrade the dashboard version??? is it possible? is it safe?........thx

Yes, you can downgrade, but it involves hacking the motherboard using RGH, you cannot go back an endless amount, which versions are supported depends on your fuses

As swizzy said, it is possible, but there is absolutly nothing to gain by doing it. The moment you go to sign on to xbox live, it will update it again, and that is assuming you are talking about downgrading a stock system. But to answer the question with more info, if you are on any dash past 15572 you can downgrade back to 15572. It would require RGH/R-Jtag, and it would be a waste of time/money to install all that to remove it again, then loose being able to play the newest games, and being able to play on xbox live. With an RGH/Jtag/R-Jtag, you could technically downgrade back to the 1888 kernel version the xbox shipped out with. It would require some knowledge, as RGH/jtag didnt really come in until 7371 kernel, so no one really made xebuild/ibuild files for versions before that.

1888 would only work on Xenon, but yeah... basically, you can downgrade to any kernel that supports the motherboard you have (which is basically whatever version the console model shipped with, this doesn't mean your specific consoles lowest version, it means the oldest dash the model came with) this however requires that you have JTAG, RGH, R-JTAG or similar, something that allows you to run a modified kernel

I could have sworn I read/watched a video somewhere that all xbox phat 360's had a built in recovery option that would boot to a 1888 kernel if you had a memory card with the right data on it. Unfortunatly, it was useless for modding purposes, as it only booted a menu that gave a couple options to hook it up via network to a computer with secret software from MS that would then debug the hardware. I dont know, I never tried it as I dont have an xbox 360 memory card for a phat, and it wouldnt allow you to do anything with out the computer part.  I dont think usb mu would work for this. I will see if I can find the video on that later.

Well, there is 1888 on all models, but you won't get a fully functional dashboard from it... each update is just a new set of bootloaders that patches the kernel to become what the new version is

However, 1888 only functions on Xenon due to processor differences and such...

The CE bootloader is 1888 :p but, on newer models it's more of a MFG thing then a actual dashboard...

the thing is that im just triying to connect to LINK. im behind 2 routers, i already open ports on both of them, when i test link it passes all the tests but when i try to play a game it just dont show any active games and when it does it just cannot conect. i already tried DMZ and connect the xbox just to one router. i just got WTfed when i just help my friend to connect LINK doing all the regular stuff (open ports, testing.....) and no problems,  he can connect with no issues. we both have the same router the only thing i noticed was we have dif dashboard version (i have 17150 and he has 16474) i just believed testing downgrading my dashboard version could help. ps he has an xbox 360 super slim rgh and i have an xbox 360 arcade rgh.

The dashboard/model shouldn't make a difference, what you should really try is to go to his house, plug your 360 into his network and see if it works, if it does, then it's something with your router/connection causing the problem

Running it through multiple routers can be a pain, I had a similar situation like this a year or 2 ago, when I was living with my ex in a camping trailer. Basically the place we were boasted to have free wifi, but unless you were really close to the store you couldnt get it. So, being the hacker i am, I created a cantenna, and ran it through my linux server. after some tricky configuration with iptables, dhcp server settings, nat settings(Which if I remember correctly, is part of IP tables), I finally got it to work. That being said, I dont know how well you are doing to be able to pull this off with an off the shelf home router. :( but if the ports pass, you should be good, it could have something to do with the game you are playing. Some times people launch a game that is hardly played sign in to link, then launch original xbox games, so they can play them over link also. :( hopefully this gets fixed with nova.
