saywaking 289 Posted November 16, 2014 Without writing into flash and deleting originalone and managing with aurora or dashlaunch But its not possible of course
Swizzy 2083 Posted November 16, 2014 Without writing into flash and deleting originalone and managing with aurora or dashlaunch But its not possible of course Well, it's not hard... you can even do so without Aurora/Dashlaunch Installer/F3, you can build a nand without bootanim.xex by just editing the ini's for xeBuild... once done, you can simply configure Dashlaunch to load it... it's all there is to it... there's nothing special besides that... and the reason it's not possible to just replace bootanim.xex is because bootanim.xex is way smaller (it probably doesn't even use any codecs or anything of the sort, it's probably hardcoded to display what it does and play the sounds it plays... it's also probably highly compressed before beeing added to the nand)
saywaking 289 Posted November 16, 2014 Well i thought it would be professional when you have testpossibilities Dunno if a symlink or reference is possible but it would be still writing into flash or nand or whatever. Maybe checks would be safer like If there is a fakeanmin and its active you can use the referenced file else use the original one. I dont want to remove original file because it could be safer And all stuff would be handeld with dashlaunch where you simply put the custom path of your fake anim

The problem is that Dashlaunch is started AFTER bootanim... if there is no bootanim.xex it simply skips it...
Drawkcab 4 Posted November 16, 2014 I know what you are trying to say lol... I was kinda like "F&@( THAT! I'm not deleting my bootanim.xex" just for a little video to play ..."But dude, it's actually so easy once you actually understand the inner workings of what is happening. You don't even need the Bootanim.xex (I backed it up, JUST IN CASE). Let me know through PM if you need help. I'm not an Admin or anything, but i like to help when i can... saywaking 289 Posted November 16, 2014 and while playing does it load something i the background?
Swizzy 2083 Posted November 16, 2014 and while playing does it load something i the background? Bootanim is only used during startup, it's started in the main thread while other things are loading in the background (while it's preparing the dashboard) it's alot like a splashscreen... it's not used after the console has been started... saywaking 289 Posted November 16, 2014 what i mean is, so we will see 10 sec black screen and we dont get a boost without an animation
Swizzy 2083 Posted November 16, 2014 what i mean is, so we will see 10 sec black screen and we dont get a boost without an animation The actual startup time is different for each start without the bootanim, the bootanim is statically a specific length, it's extended if required (mainly when there's a slow usb hdd attached), but with nothing attached to the system you'll get faster starts without bootanim.xex in the nand as it'll skip playing that all together... otherwise it'll complete it's things before it's done, then wait for it to be done...
Drawkcab 4 Posted November 16, 2014 Here's a question about Fakeanim i need answered, actually...Is it safe to place my Fakeanim folder into the NAND of the console via FTP? I would like to speed up the boot times a little bit, because it is on USB as of right now, and I think it will run faster from the NAND section. Or even the HDD. any suggestions? gavin_darkglider 1562 Posted November 16, 2014 Putting it on the nand is iffy at best, unless you have a 4gb console. Fake anim will always be sort of slow, as it has to wait for the system to initialize the video, and runs on top of the nxe dashboard, so it still has to load the NXE files, then dashlaunch launces the fakeanim app, then your default app. The stock animation works at more of a bootloader sort of level. That is a bad example, but I hope you get the idea.

The best would be HDD, NAND doesn't have enough space for it :/
